At those words, Matthew immediately realized this was nothing more than a sham clinic.
"The spirit governs life—lose it, and death follows. Sir, your brows are dark, your face is dull, and there isn't life in your eyes. You're drained of all vital energy!"
Here we go again.
Without even checking his symptoms, the man rattled off baseless claims.
To Matthew, a true physician, this was absurd.
"Don't you know that a dead meridian is indicated when the pulse moves more than four times per breath? If it drifts faintly, like a broken string—sometimes slow, sometimes fast—it signals degrading energy. That is also a telltale sign of death," Matthew corrected.
The man had clearly tried to borrow lines from The Inner Cannon, twisting sacred medical teachings he barely understood.
Hearing Matthew's words, the owner was momentarily stunned before he nodded. "Yes, that's right. You have a dead meridian, and your days are numbered."
"If that is the case, can I be cured?" Matthew asked.
"Of course! I have a secret ancestral formula that we've perfected over ten years. It's made up of over a hundred rare herbs, and just one pill can save your life!"
He sounded calm, but his claims were over the top.
Matthew examined the so-called miracle pill.
It was nothing but ground-up common herbs, pressed into a shape. The pill was harmless, but utterly useless.
"Sir, this is the holy grail of my clinic. Supplies are scarce. Fate has brought us together, so I'll give you one pill to sustain your life for now.
Seeing Matthew accept the pill, the owner pressed harder with his pitch. "But one pill only clears your meridians temporarily. Your essential Qi is too low, and you must take one pill every day for ten days to recover fully."
"Get me everything, then," Matthew said at once, pretending to agree.
The owner hurried his men to fetch the rest, adding without a shred of shame, "That'll be 200,000 Dornia Emeralds for the consultation and medicine."
"You're a deceitful physician! How dare you make a living off risking lives?"
Matthew finally dropped the act and cursed.

Matthew smiled sinisterly. "So, you're bullying people and extorting money from them, eh?"
Then, with a flick of his hand, he released dozens of flying needles.
The needles flew like lightning, each finding a precise spot in the thighs of the hired goons.
Before they could even react, numbness and searing pain ripped through their legs.
They dropped their cleavers and collapsed, clutching their thighs and wailing.
The owner staggered, dumbfounded. "What did you do to them?"
"You run a clinic," Matthew mentioned coldly. "You should know these acupoints."

Once pierced, the nerves went numb, followed by sharp agony.
