Benjamin patted her head and stepped into the hospital room.

Her words were cut off by Nina’s cries. “Mommy hurt!”

Nina had sharp little eyes. She immediately saw the bandages on Amelia’s neck and the IV needle in her

hand.

Seeing Amelia like this, her chubby little body surged forward, desperate to reach her.

Benjamin held her tightly and carried her to the bedside without setting her down.

He reminded her, “Nina, your mommy’s on an IV. You can’t hug her yet. Don’t touch her now.”

The moment Benjamin got close, Freya quietly stepped aside.

She watched from the side to see how Benjamin handle Nina.

After a few days of taking care of Nina, Benjamin was no longer as awkward as before.

He sat on the chair by the bed, supporting Nina’s little body with his large hands, letting her stand on his lap.

Nina meant that there were bad people who had hurt Amelia.
