Chapter 260 Animated Expressions and Gestures
At the scene earlier, Nina had been brave and hadn’t cried.
One of the teachers wiped her face clean and held her for a long time, but she stayed strong.

But the strong Nina carlier, on Benjamin’s lap, couldn’t hold back her tears anymore, letting them all out.
“Daddy, Nina scared,” she sobbed.
Benjamin held her tightly, murmuring reassurances. “It okay. I’m right here. I have you.”
He kept repeating those soothing words, gave her snacks, and put on a cartoon. Gradually, with these distractions, Nina calmed down a little.
“Daddy, catch fish?” she asked between snacks, having lost interest in Ultraman after just a minute.
She was bored with it again and wanted to catch fish now.
Right now, Benjamin would agree to anything.
They went to a mall and headed straight for the children’s play area on the third floor.
Nina, holding her small net, didn’t sit properly on the stool; instead, she stood right at the edge of the fish pond.
Benjamin recorded a video of her happily scooping fish and sent it first to Amelia, then to the family group chat.
In the video, Nina looked engrossed in her task, though her eyes were still puffy and red from crying.
Amelia was deeply worried and asked, “Was she really frightened?”
Benjamin replied, “Yes. She held it together at daycare but cried as soon as we got in the car.”
Amelia texted back, “I’ll join you as soon as I wrap up here.”
Her filming had already started.
Leaving now wouldn’t just disrupt the director’s plans; i would also affect the extras who had arrived early.
Her job wasn’t just about her-many others depended on it.
Suppressing her worry, Amelia finished her work before heading to meet them. ”
Benjamin and Nina had been playing for hours.
They had lunch at the mall, and for once, Benjamin didn’t tattle to Amelia, no matter how much Nina dawdled over her food.
Nina caught fish, ate, rode a mechanical dinosaur car, and played all sorts of games.
She was so busy she even skipped her nap.
By the time Amelia arrived, Nina greeted her with a big grin, all her fear gone.

“Mommy! Nina so good! Nina hit bad guy! No scared! Nina help!” she said proudly.
Amelia picked her up. “If you were so brave, did you cry today?”
Nina touched her eyes and answered honestly, “I cry.”
Looking at her face, Amelia felt a jumble of emotions.
Normally, getting all the kids to run away from daycare would get Nina a spanking.
But she’s just been through a traumatic experience today. Now wasn’t the time.
Fine. We’ll put that on hold. If she behaves from now on, I’ll let it go.
Amelia took over watching Nina.
Benjamin, having spent half the day with her, had other matters to attend to.
After handing Nina off, he left.
Amelia didn’t go home. Instead, she took Nina to the hospital to see Chloe.
Chloe was awake more often now and had asked to see Nina.

On the way, Nina, clutching a new toy Benjamin had bought her, asked Amelia her usual question, “Mommy, Auntie Chloe go home?”
“Not yet, sweetie. Chloe needs to get better first,” Amelia said.
Nina asked the same thing every day-even if they answered her today, she’d still ask tomorrow.
Amid all the questions, Nina was taken to the hospital by Amelia.
As they approached the hospital room, Nina spotted the guy she didn’t like not far from the door.

“Mommy, bad guy here,” she said, pointing at Jasper-who still wanted to see Chloe-her dislike clear in her
voice.
For the first time, Jasper didn’t ignore her.
“Little one, can you take me to see your Auntie Chloe? I’m your uncle,” he said, trying to trick her.
Nina shook her head firmly. “No!”
She was always straightforward with her likes and dislikes.
“Nina no like you! Go ‘way!” she ordered.
Nina shooed Jasper away, waving him off.
Jasper pressed his lips together but stayed put.
Amelia didn’t engage with him. She simply carried Nin past him and into the room.
Inside, William and Daniel were with Chloe.

Seeing her grandpa and uncle, Nina immediately stretched out her arms, wanting to be held by someone
else.
“Grandpa! Nina hit bad guy!” She told William and Daniel the same story she’d already told Amelia, using lots of excited hand gestures and facial expressions.
As he listened, William didn’t feel proud of her bravery-he only felt a cold rush of fear.
