Chapter 273 Dull and Lifeless
:
Nina had a serious look on her little round face, clearly torn.
But looking at Ryder, she turned down William’s offer with a heavy heart. “Grandpa, no.”
She was determined to go to Ryder’s house.
Nina was too stubborn. William couldn’t get her to change her mind.
Finally, William called Ryder’s grandmother, Aurora Kane.
Aurora was really happy to have Nina come over.
She had heard a lot about Nina from Ryder and had even seen photos and videos of her.
“You can rest assured. Let Nina come. I’ll take good care of her,” she said.
Besides Nina, Jerry also wanted to go.
Dulce wanted to join, too, but her father picked her up and carried her away.

Since Ryder was picked up by their family’s nanny, Clara Hale, William didn’t feel comfortable letting Clara take care of so many kids at once. He personally took Nina and Jerry to Ryder’s house.
“Nina, just play here for a little while. I will come to get you soon. You must be good here, okay?” he said.
“Okay!” Nina promised loudly.
William himself didn’t stay. He sat in a nearby coffee shop, waiting to pick Nina up later.
Daycare let out earlier than elementary school.
Nina didn’t see Ryder’s older brother, Kian Kane, at the house.
“Nina, Kian back soon. You wait, okay?” Ryder said.
“Okay,” she said.
Nina made herself right at home at Ryder’s. She plopped down on the carpet. Ryder brought her snacks and drinks, and Jerry helped by poking straws into the juice boxes.
“Nina, you wanna play toy? I have many toy,” Ryder offered.

Chapter 273 Dull and Lifeless
This was his first time having friends over, and he was bustling around all excited.
Ryder’s family didn’t have a grandpa living with them, just his grandma, Aurora.
Aurora’s health wasn’t great, so both Ryder and Kian were very well-behaved.
They never acted up around her.

Sitting on the rug,
Nina didn’t play with toys.
She turned on the TV. This time, she couldn’t find the cartoons herself, but she asked Clara to put them on for her.
Clara helped.
The little ones watched TV together, chattering now and then. Aurora, watching from the stairs, found the sight really heartwarming.
She said, “Clara, when Kian gets back, make sure they all have something to eat. I’m not feeling well in my chest right now. I need to lie down.”
Aurora had various health issues and took medication daily.
She had just taken her pills and needed to rest.
Clara wasn’t young either-she was in her forties-but she was a lot younger than Aurora.
She’d worked for the family for years, so Aurora trusted her completely.
Clara agreed with a smile, and Aurora went to her room.
After Aurora left, Clara came to the living room to chat with the children.
She asked, “Ryder, are these all your friends? This little girl is so pretty.”
Nina’s cute little face was indeed striking.
Since she was a baby, strangers had always complimented her.
Even though she heard compliments all the time, Nina never got tired of hearing them.
She took her eyes off the cartoon for two seconds to respond, “I pwetty.”
Nina was very confident.
Clara laughed, chatting with her a bit more.

After a few sentences, Nina, who just wanted to watch TV, pretended not to hear her.

Seeing she was focused on the TV, Clara didn’t bother her further. “Alright, you play here. I’ll go check on the kitchen.”
The children continued watching TV and snacking, having a really nice cozy time.
As time passed, just as the cartoon wasn’t finished, Kian finally came home.
Seeing Kian, Nina’s eyes lit up. “Wow! So pwetty.”
Six-year-old Kian looked a little frail. He had delicate, pretty features, but his eyes didn’t have the liveliness a kid should have-they looked dull and empty.
Ryder saw Kian and rushed over to hug him. “Kian, you home!”
Ryder hugged him warmly. Kian’s dull

eyes lit up a little when Ryder hugged him.
Just as Kian was about to speak to Ryder, the few boys who had followed him home laughed and cut in, “Oh, what a coincidence. Your little brother has friends over, too.”
The students with Kian were older than he was, all third graders.
Hearing their voices, Kian tensed up all over.
“Ryder, your friends should go home now. Tell them to leave,” Kian urged Ryder anxiously.
But before Ryder could answer, one of the boys behind Kian placed a hand on Kian’s shoulder.
