Chapter 279 Campaign of Flattery
Amelia knew her daughter too well.
William wasn’t convinced by her judgment.
He defended Nina, “Nina isn’t trying to skip school; she’s not that sneaky. She’s just embarrassed to be seen.”
Hearing this, Amelia didn’t argue.

She simply bent down and asked Nina, “Nina, if we don’t go to school today, will we just stay home?”
Nina shook her head decisively. “No.”
Her chubby finger pointed toward the door. “Playground.”
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “The playground will be full of people. Aren’t you pretty anymore? You still want to go somewhere crowded?”
Nina nodded vigorously. “Yeah!”
At the mention of the playground, Nina’s concerns about her appearance vanished.
William was speechless.
As William waited for Amelia’s verdict on whether Nina would go to school, Amelia gently touched Nina’s cheek. “Alright. For the sake of your eye, no school today.”
Amelia felt a soft spot for Nina.
She’d been through a lot yesterday, and she deserved a little fun day out.
Hearing the decision, William immediately smiled, “Amelia, you go ahead to work. I’ve got Nina today.”
Nina might have a day off, but Amelia couldn’t skip work.
After leaving Nina at home, Amelia headed out.
Benjamin accompanied her in the car-well, the driver took them, with Benjamin sitting in the back with her.
Their little breakthrough last night left Amelia feeling nervous, her ears burning, whenever she looked at Benjamin now.

Finished
The partition was up.
Amelia stayed quiet, just fiddling with her water bottle and avoiding Benjamin’s gaze.
She didn’t look at him, but he kept looking at her.
“What time do you finish work today?” he asked, his arm naturally moving to pull her close.
Amelia’s cheeks warmed as she was drawn in.
“Not sure,” she murmured. “If things go smoothly, early. If not, who knows?”
Benjamin hummed in response. “I’ll pick you up tonight.”
“Okay.” Amelia nodded.
Even with a child, the two of them were still as sweet as could be.
When they arrived, Amelia gathered her courage. Before getting out, she quickly leaned over and gave a quick kiss on Benjamin’s right cheek.
Without waiting to see his reaction, she turned and hurried out of the car.
Benjamin watched her go, a slight smile touching his lips.
Both Benjamin and Amelia had work.
Daniel was at the hospital with Chloe.
Just as William was about to take Nina to the playground, something came up.
An old friend of his had an accident, and he needed to go check on him.
He couldn’t take Nina with him.
After asking in the family group chat, Benjamin came back to get her.
Nina wasn’t exactly thrilled to see him.
She waved her little hand the moment she spotted him. “Daddy, bye-bye!”
Ignoring her dismissal, Benjamin simply picked her up.
Nina squirmed in his arms. “No! Want Grandpa! Grandpa, hold me!”
She insisted on William, who wanted to hold her, too. But William was sensible. “Nina, where I

Finched
After his friend had an accident, things were a mess, and he was going to help sort them out.
There was no place for a child.
He squeezed her little hand apologetically. “Nina, I’ll take you to the playground next time, okay? I have to work today.”
Hearing that the playground trip was off, Nina pouted. She finally stopped demanding to be held by William.
She looked at Benjamin. “Daddy, playground?”
Benjamin glanced at her. “If you behave.”
Hearing this, Nina immediately sat up straight in his arms, putting on her best “good girl” act.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Nina good.”
Benjamin took the suddenly “well-behaved” Nina with him.
On the way, Nina’s performance was impeccable.
She even opened her little sippy cup and tried to offer Benjamin some water. “Daddy, drink.”
“Thank you. I’m fine,” Benjamin said, looking at the chewed-up straw.
He couldn’t bring himself to use the straw.
Undaunted by his refusal, Nina continued her campaign of flattery. “Daddy, I love you. Daddy, love Nina?”
“Yes.” Benjamin felt helpless.
Amid Nina’s constant chatter, the car finally came to a stop.
