Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 306

Chapter 306 Bad Guys

But when Erik badmouthed Lester, he made sure Lester never heard it.

When it came to doing shady things or saying mean things, Erik always took care to cover his tracks.

While Erik was still freaking out, Daniel, with a dark expression, reached over to cover his mouth.

“Just shut up,” Daniel hissed, practically seething. “Can’t you see Nina is right here?

“She’ll pick up the bad words.”

Daniel and Erik’s credit cards were still frozen.

Recently, Benjamin had shown signs of possibly unfreezing their cards.

If Nina started swearing because of them now, they could forget about getting their cards unfrozen.

But Daniel’s attempt to cover Erik’s mouth was too late.

Sitting in the go-kart, Nina tilted her chubby little face up and giggled, “Holy shit!”

Nina was clearly doing it on purpose.

Each time she said “holy shit”, their faces twitched.

She found this really fun.

As Nina kept repeating it, Daniel resisted the urge to react. He did what he learned from Amelia and tried to distract her.

He asked, “Nina, let’s go get a snack and come back to play later, okay? Is there anything you want to eat?”

Daniel tried to steer her attention elsewhere.

Nina blinked her big eyes and pointed at an adult not far away. “Juice?”

Someone nearby was holding and sipping a glass of juice.

Daniel shook his head without hesitation. “No, you can’t have that.”

Nina was still sick. She couldn’t have anything cold, sweat, or greasy.

As for spicy food, Nina never ate that anyway.

Sometimes Daniel tried to tempt her with spicy snacks, but she’d just clamp her little mouth shut, never giving in to the temptation.

“Un-coo Dan’el, buy juice?”

“No.”

“Un-coo Dan’el buy.”

“No.”

The grown man and the little girl went back and forth, which was funny. Watching them. Erik blacklisted Lester’s number and then joined Daniel in trying to coax Nina.

Just as the two were busy with Nina, Jasper-who had been threatened by the Graham family-showed up. He hadn’t gone to find Chloe; he came looking for Daniel instead.

Daniel was annoyed just seeing him. “What are you doing here again? I’m not going to help you.

“You need to stop thinking about Chloe. It’s never going to happen.

“My advice is to just move on with your life.”

Daniel didn’t have a single kind look for Jasper.

Jasper had hit a lot of walls with the Graham family these past few days.

He looked haggard, as if he’d just had a serious illness.

“Chloe doesn’t want to see me anymore, and I won’t force her,” Jasper said, his voice weary. “Daniel, I’m here to warn you. Brian Grazer… he’s not a good guy.”

The Brian he mentioned was the person who had been visiting Chloe the last couple of days.

He was the cousin of Chloe’s deceased first love, Wesley Grazer.

When Chloe was with Wesley, she looked out for Brian, oo.

They had been quite close.

After Wesley passed away, Chloe spent her time outside of studies immersed in various forests, researching wildlife.

She rarely stayed in Averton and had even less contact with Brian.

This time, Brian found out she was sick and came specifically to keep her company.

Brian was nineteen, a seemingly bright and sunny young man.

After Wesley’s death, he had often been there to console Wesley’s parents.

Wesley was an only child. Having lost their son, his parents nearly didn’t make it through their grief several

times.

Daniel quite liked this kind-hearted man.

So, when Jasper spoke ill of him, Daniel rolled his eyes on the spot.

He said, “Give me a break. You’re the last person to judge others.

“As long as you stay away from Chloe, there won’t be any bad guys’ around her.”

After snapping at Jasper, Daniel picked Nina up and walked away.

Nina had heard Chloe’s name and now wanted to see her. “Un-coo Dan’el, find Auntie Chloe.”

In her desire to find Chloe, Nina stopped pestering him for a drink.

Daniel hesitated for a moment, then took her to see Chipe.

When they arrived, Brian was still in the hospital room.

Brian was chatting with Chloe-he was quite the conversationalist, and Chloe wore a slight smile as they talked.

He wasn’t just talkative; he was also thoughtful.

While speaking, he remembered to peel an orange for Chloe.

Just as he finished peeling it and was about to hand it to her, Nina, who ran in through the door, squeezed between them.

Nina opened her mouth wide, acting like they were old friends and demanding the orange.

Brian was taken aback for a second and instinctively moved to feed the orange segment to Nina.

Chloe quickly covered Nina’s mouth. “Don’t give it to her. She’s still sick and can’t have fruit.”

Failing to get the orange, Nina let out a displeased snort

Then, she reached out her chubby little hand and grabbed an orange directly from the fruit plate on the bedside table.

With Nina in the room, the once quiet and spacious hospital room suddenly felt too small to hold her

energy.

Chloe looked at her with a mix of fondness and helplessness. “Nina, how about some crackers instead? No orange.”

She then glanced at Daniel. “Has she eaten yet?”
