Chapter 176-3
The one thing I knew about Cash for sure was that his heart was pure, and when he loved, he loved wholeheartedly. Of course, Cash had a playful side to him that I had just seen a glimpse of not too long ago, but right now at this moment, that side to him wasn’t present. In its place was a side that I wasn’t too familiar with, one that sounded far more serious, and I knew that was because this choice I was about to make with him was a serious one.
This wasn’t just a question of whether I would be his girlfriend. This question held so much more to it than just that, and I knew if I agreed to let him make me his, then I was forever agreeing for the two of us to be forever connected.
Honestly, if I had been asked to make this kind of choice just weeks ago, hell even just a couple of days ago, I would never have even considered it, because I had my mind made up that I was heading my ass back to California to pursue my dreams. But after everything that happened, I realized that those dreams of mine were so minute compared to what my future now held for me.
After losing my parents, I thought my dreams were the only things that I had left, but being here right now with Cash, and feeling the whirlwind of emotions towards him, I realized that I could maybe have so much more in life than I ever thought was possible. There was a whole other world out there, one that seemed so unbelievable, but still real that I was born a part of, and even with my mother’s feeble attempts to keep me away from it, I landed right back where she had initially run from.
A part of me knew that my mother had done this to keep us all safe, but look where that had gotten, not just her, but my grandmother too. It was clear that even if I headed back to California, none of this was ever going to end, and in all honesty, I knew that it would just follow me, as Lexi was a prime example of that. At least in Beaumont, I knew I was surrounded by people I could trust, and that they would put their lives on the line to protect me, just as I would do the same for them.
These past couple of days, I had witnessed this all firsthand, and even though all of this was a lot for me to take in, it was a pill that I was going to have to swallow whether I wanted to or not, because it wasn’t something that was going to just go away. It was clear that both my family and the Ryder’s family were connected through this bond, and instead of running from it like my mother had, I was going to embrace it and stare the devil right in the eyes if that was what it took to stop all this madness.
But one thing I knew was I wasn’t going to have to do it alone, as I had Cash here right now proving to me that he was all in. All I needed to do was agree to commit to him, and that was exactly what I was going to do, because right now, I couldn’t even think of a future without

him.
Feeling a need deep inside of me, I reached up and placed the palm of my hand against the warmth of his cheek, all while I kept my eyes staring deep into his soul, before I finally admitted out loud, not only to him but to myself, “I want to be yours.”
