Chapter 8
Jasper listened quietly.
I expected him to defend himself, to beg for another chance. He used to care so much about his career.
But he just nodded calmly.
“You’re right. I brought this on myself. I’ll resign as soon as possible.”
And just like that, the drama ended.
The crowd dispersed. Everyone went back to work.
After work, I saw Sienna and Jasper arguing outside the building.
“Jasper, don’t go to Wren! I won’t let you!”
“You used to care about me the most, didn’t you? I’m saying yes now–we can be together. Okay?”
Jasper shook her off, his eyes full of disgust.
“I finally get it now. I understand how Wren felt. Being someone’s backup–it hurts.”
“Sienna, I did love you for years. In my memory, you were always that girl in the library–quiet, reading, with beautiful eyes that suddenly smiled at me.”
“You were so proud back then. Even when you rejected me, I couldn’t help wanting to be near you, to be good to you.”
“After you came back, I hesitated so many times. I had this feeling you weren’t the same person anymore. But you gave me hope. All those years of longing–I didn’t want to let go.”
“I get it now. What I couldn’t let go of was just the idea of you. I stopped loving you a long time ago.”
the end, Jasper’s voice was full of regret.
But Sienna refused to accept it.
She’d always thought Jasper would be her backup forever. That he’d always wait.
Her dream of marrying into wealth was shattered. Even Jasper didn’t want her anymore.
And she still owed a mountain of debt. She completely lost it.
“Even you’re leaving me? I won’t let you. If you want to leave, then we’ll die together!”
She grabbed Jasper and tried to drag him into traffic.
Jasper broke free.

Chapter 8
In the end, she was the one who got hit.
Sienna survived, but from then on, she’d spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.
Half a month later, Jasper appeared in front of me again.
“Wren, I know we’re over. I just… I want to say goodbye properly.”
He looked exhausted, but his clothes were clean and neat. White shirt. Jeans. The same outfit he wore the first time we met.
Time had changed him. He wasn’t the boy who’d once I loved.
But seeing the plea in his eyes, I realized–we’d never really said goodbye. Every time I tried to break up, he never believed me.
“Okay.”
Seven years together deserved a proper ending.
We sat across from each other in a café. After a long silence, he spoke softly.
“If I hadn’t blocked you from the V10, if Sienna had never come back–would you have married me?”
Jasper, there are no ‘ifs‘ in life.”
My voice was calm. Because I’d truly let go of this relationship.
He froze, then his eyes turned red.
He held back tears, his voice shaking.
‘I actually fell in love with you a long time ago. I just didn’t realize it.”
‘I really regret losing you like this.”
I’m sorry. I won’t bother you again.”
He stood up abruptly, walked a few steps, then stopped.
Wren, I hope you’re happy.”
Then he left quickly, his shoulders shaking.
‘m pretty sure he was crying. But I didn’t look back.
He probably really did regret it.
But love, once spilled, can’t be gathered back. This was his punishment for being unfaithful.
asper’s chapter in my life was finally closed.
A year later, Callum and I got married.
