Chapter 6
Memories flooded Kieran’s mind.
He remembered mornings when he’d been too busy designing to grab breakfast.
Evelyn would pull a warm bun from inside her coat and hand it to him, smiling sweetly even though the heat had burned her chest.
Once, he’d been prototyping a product himself and cut his hand.
She’d cradled his injured hand in hers, eyes welling up with tears. He’d teased her for being silly–but inside, his heart had raced at
how adorable she looked.
And the day they’d officially launched the company–she’d been radiant, holding a cake, playfully smearing frosting on his face.
That sweet, mischievous look on her face now gnawed at him like a snake sinking its fangs into his chest. He was going insane nissing her.
He had to see her. Now.
But-
Where the hell was she?
ust then, the door opened.
Tina walked in.
she’d noticed him tearing out of the office like a madman earlier, and a sense of dread had settled in her stomach. Now, standing in he doorway, seeing the dark look on Kieran’s face–she felt real fear. She’d never seen him like this before.
till, she gathered her courage. Swayed over to him. Voice dripping with sweetness.
Kieran, why’d you rush off so fast? Did you want to come back here with me and-”
Get out.”
ler words died in her throat.
I was the first time Kieran had ever snapped at her like that. Looked at her with pure irritation.
‘ina froze.
Kieran…, you’re not still thinking about Evelyn, are you? If she hadn’t leaked the company secrets, we wouldn’t even¬”
Shut. Up.”
Jeran’s eyes locked on hers. Cold. Venomous.
Virex was Evelyn’s life’s work. Why the hell would she destroy it? There has to be a misunderstanding.”

Then he paused. Frowned.
“No one else knew about the leak. How did you know?”
Tina’s face went white. Panic flashed in her eyes.
“I–I just heard people talking…”
“Heard from who?”
Kieran’s icy tone shattered her composure. She stammered, couldn’t get a single coherent word out.
For the first time, doubt crept into Kieran’s mind.
Without hesitation, he grabbed his phone and called his assistant.
“Find out exactly how the company data was leaked in the first place.”
Five minutes later, the link used to steal the data was sent to his phone.
The same one Evelyn had filled out.
But the IP address tied to that link?
Tina’s phone.
Tina’s legs gave out. She dropped to her knees, clutching at Kieran’s legs, tears streaming down her face.
“Kieran! Please, let me explain!”
“I love you! Everything I did was for you! I just wanted to test Evelyn–if she could fill out something that important without double–checking, it proved she didn’t care about you or Virex!”
“Kieran, I’m the only one who truly loves you!”
Before she could finish, Kieran exploded.
He slapped her hard across the face, then grabbed her by the throat, voice like ice straight from hell.
You think you’re worthy of saying the word ‘love‘?”
I’ve dug up every disgusting thing you’ve done. What the hell do you think you’re going to explain?”
Tina’s eyes widened in terror. Her face turned purple from lack of oxygen,
‘No–no, Kieran, someone must have framed me…”
Thud.
Kieran kicked her square in the chest.
