Chapter 2
I froze.
If I’d never heard that voice before, I probably would’ve looked up out of sheer curiosity,
Too bad I knew it all too well.
For five years straight. In every nightmare.
On those nights when I couldn’t sleep without pills, every damn word he’d ever said played on repeat in my head.
“Quinn, you’re too innocent. I’m gonna ruin you.”
“Quinn, try smoking. Girls who smoke are hot. I wanna see a different side of you.”
And I fell for his coaxing and the teasing.
Sophomore year, I went from chasing Jasper to his booty call
Eventually, I beat out all the other girls, and became his girlfriend for three whole years.
The day he accepted my confession, the weather was trash.
Howling wind, gray skies.
He’d just finished a date with a senior and dropped her off.
His car was parked right outside the girls‘ dorm.
Leaning on that little special treatment just for me, I went down and confessed.
For a second, even the wind seemed to stop. Like the world hit pause.
I waited.
Jasper turned to look at me, pulled out a cigarette and held it to my lips.
His eyes were dark–deep, dangerous, impossible to look away from.
Somehow, I leaned in and took it between my lips.
My mouth brushed his fingers, but he didn’t pull away.
That teasing look softened into permission.

Mr. Fake–Mute’s Love Game Ended When I Stopped Playing the Foot
Chapter 2
All he said was, amused.
“Good girl’s not so good anymore.”
At the time, I was too far gone to get what he really meant.
Not until graduation–the last time he took me to a hotel, the last time we ever saw each other.
After we fucked, he handed me a cigarette like always.
“When I get married? I’m not picking a girl who smokes after sex.”
I swallowed hard. “Why?”
Jasper smiled, smoke curling from his fingers. His tone dead serious.
“Quinn. I want someone pure.”
