Chapter 2
The beer bottle exploded against Lucas’s back. Glass shattered everywhere.
At the critical moment, he still threw himself in front of Charlie without hesitation.
My eyes burned red. He didn’t even notice. Just glared at me with pure rage.
Emily, can you stop acting like a spoiled bitch for once?”
I bring you to meet my friends, and you can’t even take a fucking joke? You’re killing the vibe.”
If we weren’t already married, I’d call the cops on you right now. Maybe a few days in jail would knock some sense into that pretty little head.”
harlie stood up like she’d won.
Come on, babe. Let’s bounce. I’m not hanging with some uptight princess who can’t handle reality.” Her voice dripped with fake sympathy.

Chapter 2
When I didn’t move, Carter grabbed my hand and started bandaging it himself.
I thanked him. He didn’t leave. Just sat there drinking beer.
We sat like that all night. Until the sky lit up with the most beautiful sunrise I’d ever seen.
I took a photo and posted it on Instagram. Caption: “Rebirth.”
We took a cab back to the hotel. And ran straight into Lucas walking out of Charlie’s room. Hair a complete mess.
When he saw me, his face changed. He opened his mouth to explain.
But Charlie popped out from behind him right on cue.
Overnight, Charlie’s body had started showing male traits.
The peach fuzz on her upper lip was way more obvious now. The hair on her arms had gotten thicker and darker.
She didn’t notice. Just wrapped her arm around Lucas’s intimately. “Girl, Lucas is a beast in bed. You’re so lucky.”
Stop talking shit!” Lucas yanked his arm away and rushed over to me.
Emily, don’t get the wrong idea. We were just gaming all night. That’s it.”
looked down. Caught him scratching at his pants unconsciously. A habit he could never break when lying.
