**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
By J.S. Caldwell
**Chapter 85**
With a heavy heart, Jayceon dismissed the nurse, her footsteps fading into the corridor as he gently lifted Georgina back onto the bed. The stark reality of her actions weighed heavily on him. “You tried to end it all, Georgina. Did you even spare a thought for Leandro in that moment?” His voice was a mix of concern and disappointment, reverberating in the sterile room.
Georgina, her eyes glistening with defiance, replied, “I’ve already sent Leandro to an orphanage. He won’t be a burden to you anymore. Honestly, I don’t wish to continue this life, and you should stop worrying about me, Jay!” Her words, though resolute, were drenched in an underlying sorrow that Jayceon could not ignore.
He grasped her injured hand firmly, preventing her from fidgeting. “Georgina, you are the only mother Leandro has. Please, don’t resort to such reckless actions again.” His tone was softer now, laced with an urgency that pierced through her bravado.
As Jayceon’s comforting words seeped into her heart, Georgina’s facade crumbled, and tears streamed down her cheeks. “Jay, you don’t understand. Your grandfather threatened me. He said if I remained with you, he would strip you of everything—your marriage, your assets, and hand over the Melendez family fortune to your illegitimate half-brother.” Her voice quivered as she recounted the harrowing memories.
“I agreed to his demands for your future, Jay. I forced myself to break things off with you. But to ensure we were completely separated, he even sent me abroad to marry someone else.” A shudder ran through her as she recalled the pain of that decision.
“I endured six long years of domestic abuse. I lost several children due to the violence. Leandro was born after that man violated me. Despite everything, I couldn’t bring myself to return. I feared dragging you down with my misery.” Her voice trembled with the weight of her confession, each word a painful reminder of her past.
“Jay, everything I did, I did out of love for you. I returned only because I had no other choice. I never intended to disrupt your life with your wife.” Her eyes searched his, pleading for understanding.
“I’m just ‘once bitten, twice shy.’ If your grandfather discovers that Leandro isn’t your biological son, he will repeat his previous actions—forcing us out of the country or marrying me off to another man who drinks, gambles, and lives a life of debauchery. I would rather die than live in that constant fear!” Her voice rose with desperation, a raw vulnerability exposed.
Suddenly, Georgina dropped to her knees before Jayceon, her spirit seemingly crushed. He felt a wave of darkness wash over him as he watched her. Jayceon instinctively reached to pull her up, but she clung tightly to his pant leg, refusing to rise.
She looked up, her eyes shimmering with tears, “Jay, I’m begging you. For the sake of our shared past, for the happiness I sacrificed for you, please don’t reveal Leandro’s true parentage to your wife.” Her voice was a whisper, filled with a mix of hope and despair.
Jayceon stood frozen, his mind racing. He felt torn, his gaze wandering as uncertainty clouded his thoughts. The weight of Georgina’s plea pressed heavily on his conscience, and as he hesitated, panic etched itself onto her face.
“Jay, your grandfather shattered me just to tear us apart. All my suffering stems from this. My life is already in ruins, and all I desire is a fresh start for me and my son. Please, have mercy on us, and don’t disclose the truth about Leandro. I’m pleading with you!” As she spoke, she lowered her head, nearly touching the floor in a gesture of humility.
Jayceon’s expression darkened further, a storm brewing within him. With a swift motion, he seized her arm, pulling her back to her feet with a force that startled her. Silence enveloped them for what felt like an eternity, the air thick with unspoken words.
Finally, he sighed, “I promise you, I won’t tell.” The words hung in the air, a fragile truce between them.
“Your sister found out you rushed to the hospital for Georgina and is now abroad telling Arabella everything,” Samuel revealed, a hint of satisfaction in his tone.
Jayceon’s frown deepened. “Why didn’t you stop her?”
Samuel shrugged, “Honestly, I hope Arabella divorces you. You deserve better than this mess.”
Jayceon was left speechless, the weight of Samuel’s words echoing in his mind.
The following day, as noon approached in Brazoria, Kimberly emerged from her hotel and hailed a cab, her destination set for the hospital where Arabella worked.
When Arabella received Kimberly’s call, excitement surged through her, and she rushed to the hospital entrance. The moment they laid eyes on each other, they embraced tightly, spinning in circles, laughter spilling from their lips like a sweet melody.
Determined to catch up, Arabella led Kimberly to a charming restaurant, eager to treat her friend to a delightful meal.
