Chapter 47

Jayceon’s voice was firm as he reminded Kimberly, “Stay close to Arabella. Don’t leave her alone for a moment.”

With that, Jayceon and Samuel exited the room together, stepping into the quiet corridor.

Once they were alone, Samuel halted Jayceon abruptly. “Jay, what exactly are you doing? You just admitted your connection to Georgina and her son back at the mansion. Arabella hasn’t recovered from that revelation, and now she saw you buying sanitary pads for Georgina. Do you really think that’s something trivial?”

Jayceon’s shoulders sagged under the weight of Samuel’s words. “She called me out of the blue, said it was urgent, and asked if I could pick up a box for her. I didn’t even think twice before agreeing.”

Samuel shook his head in disbelief. “You agreed to pick her up from the airport, too. She broke down in front of you, saying no one cared for her, and you just went along with it. Then she confided her fears about being judged and begged you to keep her son’s identity a secret, and again, you agreed without hesitation. You say yes to everything Georgina asks, but why are you making Arabella’s life so difficult?”

Jayceon frowned deeply, confusion and frustration flickering across his face. “What are you trying to say?”

Samuel’s tone grew sharper. “You’ve been using money to pressure Arabella, haven’t you?”

Jayceon’s eyes darkened, a storm of emotions swirling within them.

Samuel pressed on, “She asked me to lend her 150 million dollars just to get a divorce from you. If you hadn’t pushed her so hard, she never would have come to me.”

Jayceon stared blankly at the door of the ward, his grip tightening around his phone until his knuckles turned white.

Inside the hospital room, Arabella’s thoughts churned wildly. The harsh words Jayceon had spoken in the study at the mansion echoed relentlessly in her mind. He had made it clear to everyone that the woman he truly wanted, the one he had always loved, was Georgina—not her. He declared that his happiness was shattered, that the child was indeed his responsibility, and that he would fully support Georgina and their son.

Arabella couldn’t push those words away.

Pain clawed at her chest as she pressed her hands to her temples, trying to quell the storm inside her. Before they married, someone had warned her that marriage wasn’t always a fairy tale. At the time, she had smiled and believed that with Jayceon, marriage would be her sanctuary.

Now, with bitter clarity, Arabella realized how naive she had been.

This marriage had cost her precious time and, more painfully, her self-respect.

What she had hoped for was simple—loyalty. Nothing more. She didn’t need a husband who was extraordinary; she just wanted one who would be faithful, who would love her wholly, both in body and soul.

But Jayceon’s heart belonged to another woman. A woman who bore his child.

No matter how deeply Arabella loved him, she found herself unable to want him anymore.

Tears streaming down her face, Arabella reached for her phone and dialed her father, Roderick.

Looking straight into her eyes, he said quietly, “I know you’re angry. But let’s try to work this out—just the two of us. Don’t let the elders worry.”

Arabella sat silently, her gaze fixed downward as she waited quietly for her father to arrive, offering no reply.

Since Georgina and her child returned to the country, Jayceon had been picking them up late at night and hadn’t come home for nearly a month. During that time, Arabella had cried endlessly and caused many scenes. She’d fallen ill, suffered injuries, fainted, spiraled into hysteria, and even attempted to take her own life.

No matter what she did, Jayceon remained unmoved. She couldn’t change his mind or save their marriage.

Her love for Jayceon had evolved—no longer about possession, but about letting go.

Letting him go, and in the process, letting herself go as well.

Arabella’s silence made Jayceon feel an unfamiliar, gnawing panic.

He turned to Samuel and Kimberly. “You two should go out for a bit. I need to talk to Arabella alone.”

Samuel and Kimberly exchanged a glance, then moved toward the door. Just as they reached it, the door swung open from the outside.
