**Chapter 77**
His voice emerged, deep and heavy with unmistakable fatigue, as he uttered, “Arabella, it’s truly not what you think it is between Georgina and me.”
Arabella felt a storm brewing inside her, a tempest of emotions that she desperately wished to quell. She had hoped to avoid this conversation, yet the sight of Jayceon’s hypocritical demeanor was too much to bear.
Suppressing the anguish that clawed at her heart, she confronted him, “You claim it’s not what I believe regarding you two, so let me ask you this: you lied about not coming home for an entire month, rented out all of Mondi Beach to prepare a yacht, adorned it with flowers, and baked a homemade blueberry cake for the woman you profess to love and her child. And then there was that heartfelt Instagram post. Was all of that just a façade?”
Jayceon fished his phone from his pocket, his fingers deftly unlocking it, navigating to Instagram, and presenting it to Arabella with a hint of desperation. “I confess, I lied to you for Georgina and her son, but it was just that one time. And yes, I admit, that post was indeed on my Instagram, but only for a fleeting moment.”
When Georgina returned to the country, he had felt something stir within him, a flicker of emotion he hadn’t anticipated. Yet, the thought of divorce had never crossed his mind. As time passed, he recognized that the initial spark he once felt for Georgina had dimmed significantly.
Months had slipped by, and the incident was now a distant memory, but hearing Jayceon’s admission left Arabella’s heart aching with a profound sadness. “Even if it was only for a minute, it was still real,” she replied, her voice trembling with the weight of her words.
Before Jayceon could respond, Arabella pressed on, “I’ve been your wife for three long years, and in the few months that Georgina has been back, you’ve done more for her than you ever did for me.”
Jayceon’s lips parted as if to speak, but no words emerged.
Arabella fought back the tears threatening to spill and implored, “Jay, for the sake of the love I’ve held for you for over two decades, can we please part on amicable terms?”
With a heavy heart, Jayceon approached Arabella, his hand reaching out tentatively toward hers. But she recoiled, a look of disgust etched on her face.
His hand fell back to his side, a gesture of defeat. Jayceon gazed deeply into Arabella’s eyes, sensing the turmoil within her. “Arabella, I know you misunderstand my intentions, and I recognize your disdain for Georgina and her son. I’ve already arranged for them to move out of our home. From now on, I will do my utmost to keep my distance so you don’t have to overthink things.”
He paused, gathering his thoughts before attempting to connect with her once more. “Arabella, please, stop harboring this anger towards me. Come back home.”
Arabella shook off his hand, her tone resolute. “You can discern love through the details, Jayceon. I’ve felt your affection for Georgina and her son. You said you have responsibilities towards them and that they bring you happiness. Divorce me, so your little family can be whole again. That would be the best conclusion to this.”
With a vacant expression, Arabella stared into Jayceon’s eyes, her voice steady as she declared, “True love is about giving, never about possession. This only proves that your love for Georgina runs deeper than you even acknowledge.”
Jayceon’s hands slowly traveled up Arabella’s arms, settling on her shoulders, but silence enveloped them both, stretching into an uncomfortable stillness.
“Arabella, do you truly have to view it in this light?” he finally asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Then tell me, have you ever loved me? Even if just for a fleeting moment?” she pressed, her gaze unwavering.
They held each other’s stare, and the air around them thickened with unspoken words.
Jayceon’s gaze dropped, his hands slipping away from Arabella’s shoulders as if he were relinquishing a part of himself.
Arabella tilted her head back slightly, her resolve firm as she fought to keep the tears at bay, unwilling to let them fall.
