Chapter 1041 -1041: Don’t Waste Your Effort
Looking at Star lying on the bed, Ethan Smith seemed lost in thought.
“I understand now, Lulu. Thank you,” Ethan said.
Lulu immediately waved her hand and replied, “You’re welcome.”
After sending Lulu away, Ethan wrote another prescription and entrusted someone to buy the necessary herbs.
Ethan planned to use his medical skills to save Star.
Afterward, Ethan and Jackson Harris left the room together.
They came to a pavilion and sat down.
Ethan poured Jackson a cup of tea, then said, “Senior Jackson, I have an idea. I wonder if it might work.”
“You want to recruit Star?” Jackson asked, seemingly guessing the intent.
Ethan didn’t deny it and nodded decisively, saying, “Yes, after hearing what Lulu said, I don’t think Star should have to die for the Fraley family.”
“Besides, Star controls the military power of the Second Secret Realm. If he helps, conquering the Second Secret Realm will undoubtedly be much easier.”
Jackson took a sip of tea, then said slowly, “You’re right, but the chances of convincing Star to betray the Second Secret Realm are almost nonexistent.”
“He’s clearly a soft-hearted person, yet he’d rather watch the Fraley family run rampant than leave. It shows how loyal he is to them.”
Ethan smiled and said, “People can always make things happen. Sometimes, unconventional methods are necessary.”
Jackson pondered, then said, “If you succeed, it would indeed be a great outcome. But if you fail, what will you do with Star then?”
This was indeed a tough question.
If he failed, it would mean Star would die fighting for the Fraley family.
To take down the Fraley family, they would need to overcome this obstacle.
“If worse comes to worst, I’ll grant him his wish and kill him,” Ethan said, his voice growing colder.
Hearing this, Jackson let out a faint sigh.
“I hope you succeed. I don’t want Star to die either,” Jackson said, shaking his head.
Ethan nodded and replied, “I’ll do my best.”
“By the way, Senior, have you ever heard of the Secret Realm of the Taylor family?” Ethan suddenly asked.
Jackson immediately shook his head and said, “Not to mention the Secret Realm of the Taylor family, I know nothing about the Paramount Mystic Realm either.”
Ethan sighed softly. These things were too far removed from current martial artists. Likely, no one knew about them.
“Your father might know,” Jackson suddenly pivoted the topic.
Ethan opened his mouth but then smiled bitterly. “Unfortunately, I also know nothing about him.”
“Don’t worry. This is a Golden Age; anything is possible,” Jackson said with a smile.
“I once thought I’d never have the chance to step into Martial Saint territory, but didn’t I eventually surpass my expectations?”
Ethan nodded and exclaimed, “A Golden Age indeed. Who knows how many geniuses will emerge in this era.”
The more glorious the age, the fiercer the competition.
Resources were limited, but the number of geniuses would only increase.
Who would step over everyone else to become the top cultivator of this era? No one could tell.
…
Once the herbs were purchased, Ethan personally refined medicine for Star and administered it to him.
Star was gravely injured. Healing him would be a lengthy process, and his awakening would likely take several days.
“Even with the Soul Bell, he’s no match for me.”
“Family Head, what should we do now?” someone nearby asked.
Luke said coldly, “No rush. I want to see what Ethan’s next move will be.”
…
Back on Ethan’s side, he worked day and night refining medicine for Star.
At the same time, he covertly expanded the influence of Heaven Gate.
Finally, after seven full days, Star woke up from his coma.
The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was Ethan, holding a bowl of medicine.
Seeing this, Star slapped the medicine out of Ethan’s hands and stood up, shouting, “Ethan Smith, why are you here!”
Ethan spread his hands and said, “This is Heaven Gate—my territory. If I weren’t here, where else would I be?”
Star’s face immediately changed. He looked down at his body, his expression turning even darker.
“Don’t worry, I’m not interested in men,” Ethan said as he stood up, unfazed.
Ignoring Ethan’s joke, Star hurriedly got out of bed and charged at him with a clenched fist.
But in his weakened state, Star was no match for Ethan, who easily evaded the attack.
“Don’t waste your strength. You can’t hurt me in your current condition,” Ethan said calmly.
Star gritted his teeth and said, “If you won’t kill me, I swear I’ll kill you!”
“If you want to kill me, you’ll have to wait until you’re fully recovered,” Ethan replied with a smirk.
Star squinted his eyes and sneered. “Ethan Smith, do you think your petty kindness can win me over? You’re wasting your time.”
