Chapter 1393 -1393: Rumors about the Man with the Mustache
Ethan Smith stepped closer and closer to the First Elder, his voice cold as he said, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?”
Mr. Trivett looked visibly frightened and closed his eyes, saying, “I… I don’t know.”
Ethan Smith moved even closer, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead unconsciously.
“You’re damn honest, I’ll give you that.” At that moment, Ethan couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly.
He plopped down beside Mr. Trivett, and the murderous spirit dissipated.
Mr. Trivett gasped for air, his face filled with the relief of surviving a disaster.
“You’re… not going to kill me?” Mr. Trivett asked tentatively.
Ethan waved his hand, saying, “No, as long as you keep this situation away from Simona.”
Mr. Trivett patted his chest and finally let out a relieved sigh.
“Leave Gowinston City early tomorrow morning,” Ethan said, giving Mr. Trivett one last glance before turning back to his room.
The next morning.
Mr. Trivett exchanged pleasantries with Ethan Smith before hurriedly departing the city.
For the next few days, Ethan quietly awaited the arrival of the three-day mark.
During his wait, he slowly worked on comprehending the Sixth Layer of the Character Fighting Formula.
The Character Fighting Formula had a total of ten layers, with the first five referred to as the “Earth Layers” and the remaining five as the “Sky Layers.”
Thus, comprehending the Sixth Layer was exceedingly difficult, as if separated from the Fifth Layer by a deep chasm.
*Even someone as talented as Jackson Harris had only managed to comprehend up to the Fifth Layer.*
The three days passed in the blink of an eye.
On the third evening, Ethan Smith, per the agreement, arrived once more at Ghost Market Danma Building.
Inside the building, Wilbur was already prepared. Upon seeing Ethan, he wasted no words and stood up immediately, saying, “Let’s go.”
Ethan replied with a simple “Mm.” He followed Wilbur in the direction of their destination.
Ethan had no clue where the Water of Life was located, so he walked along in a daze.
Wilbur didn’t use a flying beast. Based on that, Ethan inferred that the destination shouldn’t be too far away.
But Ethan soon realized he was massively mistaken. Shockingly so.
The two of them trekked on foot for a full five days, and still, there was no sign of their destination.
Ethan couldn’t help but ask, “Wilbur, is it still far?”
Wilbur thought for a moment and replied, “At this pace, about eight more days will do.”
Upon hearing this, Ethan nearly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Ethan joked, “So it seems Wilbur gave it a shot too, huh?”
Wilbur pointed to the scar on his face and said, “This scar? Got it from tomb robbing. Nearly died in there.”
*Ethan suddenly understood. No wonder that scar had never healed—it must have left a permanent and irreparable mark.*
At that moment, Ethan suddenly thought of someone.
He chuckled and said, “Wilbur, since you’ve dabbled in tomb robbing, do you know the man with the mustache?”
“Man with the mustache? What are you talking about?” Wilbur asked, puzzled.
Ethan shrugged and muttered, “Guess that guy was bragging back then.”
“Wait, now that you mention it, I do know of a bigshot in this field who’s sporting a mustache,” Wilbur suddenly said.
Ethan’s eyes lit up, and he eagerly asked, “Right—he’s got a mustache and a really sleazy vibe to him.”
Wilbur nodded, saying, “Hm, your description fits perfectly. He’s a legend in this trade.”
“A legend? Why?” Ethan asked quickly.
Wilbur snorted softly and said, “There aren’t many aristocratic family tombs that haven’t been visited by him. Even the Cloud Sect Master’s sect tomb fell victim to him.”
Ethan exclaimed in shock, “This guy’s that crazy?”
“That’s nothing. Back in the day, he even planned to raid the Monohorse Hall ancestral tombs. If he hadn’t been discovered, he probably would’ve succeeded,” Wilbur said with a sigh, his eyes reflecting a hint of admiration.
