Chapter 7
Ever since Eric bought the old building, someone had always been assigned to maintain it.
No stranger would randomly squat outside. And a real thief wouldn’t sit by the door smoking
like an idiot.
I asked the nanny to install a peephole camera.
The next day, I saw the footage. A disheveled man… unshaven, slumped against the wall, smoking one cigarette after another, eyes empty.
Wesley.
I was about to tell the nanny to call the police when another figure appeared on the screen.
Kayla. Her eyes were swollen from crying.
“When are you going home?! Do you know how embarrassing you look? She’s now Ironclaw
Pack’s Luna! Aren’t you ashamed?”
“I’m your mate! These days you don’t even look at me! Do you remember the promises you
made back then? Were they all lies?!”
Her voice was sharp, grating.
Wesley kept his head down. But the moment she said that, he snapped.
He rose like a struck match and grabbed her by the throat. His eyes turned blood-red, breaths
uneven and violent.
“You dare mention the past in front of me?! If not for you… how would I have betrayed
Lauren?! How would I have hurt her again and again?!”
“That night-you wore her sleepwear on purpose to seduce me. You think I didn’t know?!”
Kayla’s face turned purple. She struggled, barely squeezing out.
“Th-that… it was you… who t-told me… to wear it…”
Wesley’s grip tightened suddenly, his expression crazed.
I feared murder would happen, so I immediately alerted security at Ironclaw Manor. I also

ordered the estate manager to place Wesley on a permanent blacklist.
He would never set foot on my territory again.
I thought that would be the end of it.
But a few days later, while dropping lan at school, I encountered Rachel at the gate.
She was unrecognizable. Draped in luxury brand clothes, her face unnaturally stiff with
cosmetic work, sitting in a top-tier power wheelchair that gleamed under the sun.
The arrogance propping up her posture made me pause for a second.
She looked me up and down with eyes full of calculation.
“Lauren, I’m Aunt Rachel. You still remember me, right?”
Lately I had seen too many ghosts from the past. My patience was gone. I gestured to the
driver, preparing to leave.
Unexpectedly, she screeched.
“It was you! You told Wesley to force me to kneel at your mother’s grave!”
I stopped. I hadn’t expected Wesley to actually tell her.
Seeing my expression shift, she became even more hysterical.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re after! Now that we’re doing well, you want a share? You
dared tell Wesley to make me kneel to your mother?!”
“Back then it was your father who chased after me! I was a weak Omega, clinging to the only
chance I had! What was I supposed to do? I had no choice!”
Her voice grew shrill, harsh enough to scrape metal.
“You and Wesley married, and I agreed only because of your mother! But you always had an attitude with me! That’s when I knew you weren’t easy to deal with!”
“You’re just like your mother, fake and self-righteous! She pretended to care about me, then turned around and hit me! She deserved what she got!”
Each sentence landed like a slap across my face.

The look made my entire spine go cold.
“Get in the car,” I ordered.
The driver shut the door immediately and sped away.
That afternoon, the Werewolf Police Department called.
My heart dropped with a hard thud.
For the first time in years, I was truly afraid.
