CHAPTER 86
RYAN’S POV
By the time I reached the hospital ward to check on Anna, I already felt something was off. The air didn’t feel the same. My steps slowed when I noticed unfamiliar guards standing outside her room, two tall men dressed in all black, their stance too stiff, too composed, and their eyes too sharp. They weren’t our men. I’d seen those faces before, always around one man.
My blood ran cold.
Alpha King George.
My hands curled into fists before I even touched the door handle. My heartbeat quickened, and my wolf stirred violently inside me. I gritted my teeth so hard my jaw hurt, and before anyone could even reach me, I pushed the door open.
And there he was.
Alpha King George.
Standing right beside Anna’s bed, talking to my mother and father like he wasn’t the same bastard who had been behind every fucking thing that happened to her.
I saw red.
Before anyone could blink, my fist connected with his face so hard that he stumbled backward, his body crashing against the side table. His head hit the wall, and the vase beside the bed shattered into pieces. My mom screamed, my dad shouted, and even my grandparents gasped in shock, but I wasn’t hearing any of them.
“Ryan! What the hell are you doing?!” Mom yelled, rushing toward me, but I wasn’t stopping. My breathing was fast, loud, and I could hear my own heartbeat in my ears.
He was right there. The man who destroyed Anna’s life. The man who made Sophie the monster she became. The man who dared to walk into her room like he had any fucking right to.
I lunged again before anyone could hold me back, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him to the ground. He groaned, his face twisting in shock and anger. I didn’t care. My hand went for his throat, and I could feel my wolf rising fast, my claws starting to push through my skin.
“Ryan, stop!” Dad’s voice boomed, but I didn’t listen. My body was shaking, my eyes burning, my wolf fighting for control.
‘I saw him, my prey. The man I wanted to tear apart. The man who made my mate suffer.
He groaned and tried to get up, but I shoved him down again, my breathing harsh. “You dare show your face here?!” I shouted, my voice trembling with rage. “After everything you’ve done?!”
“Ryan!” Anna’s voice came out weak, frightened. “Stop! Please!”
Her voice cut through me like a blade. For a second, my focus faltered, but my wolf wasn’t done. My claws had already elongated, my teeth sharp enough to rip him open. I felt my eyes shift color, fire red, blue, and gold all burning together. My wolf was seconds from taking over.
Dad stepped closer, his eyes filled with confusion and frustration. “Ryan, what the hell was that? What’s going on?”
I turned to him, my voice low and strained. “That man… he’s not who we think he is.”
“What are you talking about?” Dad asked. “You just attacked the Alpha King of Europe. Do you realize what you’ve done?!”
“Alpha king my foot. I know exactly what I did,” I said, my tone cold. “And I’ll do it again if I have to.” “Ryan!” Mom snapped. “Do you even hear yourself? What’s gotten into you?”
I ran a hand through my hair, trying to control the anger boiling inside me. “You wouldn’t understand.” I glanced toward Anna, who was still watching me, eyes wide, confused, scared.
Dad’s voice softened, but it was still firm. “Then make me understand, son.”
I took a slow breath. “Not here,” I repeated. “But you need to listen to me. There’s something you don’t know. About him. About everything.”
Dad frowned. “Ryan…”
I looked at him dead in the eyes. “There’s a war coming, Dad.”
The room went completely quiet. No one said a word. Not even Mom. I turned away before anyone could stop me and walked out of the room, my hands still shaking, my mind already spinning with what I had to do next.
