After the band won the championship. Madison Brooks, the female bassist, jumped straight into Blake Parker’s arms.
cheering wildly.
She later explained innocently, “I was just so excited! Don’t mind me.”
I smiled. “So when you get excited, you specifically pick guys with girlfriends to hug? Everyone else just doesn’t catch your
eye?”
Blake immediately stepped in front of her protectively. “She’s always been carefree like that, not sensitive like you. Is this really worth it? If you want to break up, just say so.”
In that moment, I suddenly realized this relationship wasn’t worth much after all. “Fine. Let’s break up.”
I deleted everything about him, then accepted the international exchange position.
Blake thought this was just another one of my usual tantrums–the kind that could be smoothed over with some sweet
talk.
Until he flew halfway around the world with flowers, trying to make amends.
Only to be met with a low, husky male voice.“Mr. Parker, she was exhausted last night. I’m afraid she doesn’t have the
energy to see you.”
Blake’s band had won the championship, and the celebration party was in full swing.
When I pushed open the door, bassist Madison was sitting close to him, casually taking a sip from his drink. “Blake, that
improvised solo today was killer! You totally stunned the judges!”
She hooked her arm around Blake’s shoulder, the sequins on her tank top sparkling under the lights. The producer said
we can hit the studio next week for a trial recording! Here’s to our lead singer!”
Blake laughed and clinked glasses with her as the band erupted in cheers, creating an electric atmosphere.
It was a long while before Blake noticed me at the door. ‘Emily? Why aren’t you coming in?
Several pairs of eyes turned toward me. I quietly retreated to a corner, gripping my phone tighter as I scrolled through
the campus forum flooded with news of Blake’s band winning the championship
The hottest post showed bassist Madison jumping excitedly into Blake’s arms him laughing as he caught and spun her
around in celebration.

I turned off my phone screen.
