My Brother's Best Friend Is My Mate novel Chapter 15

Regardless of the crazy day I had yesterday, I still managed to get a good sleep. I woke up at about 10 am and brushed my teeth and polished off a apple and a granola bar. It was a fine day to jog; there were no signs of rain and the cool, mornjng breeze was abundant. No one was up as yet so I tip toed upstairs as quiet as a mouse and changed into clothes suitable for jogging in. I made sure that I grabbed my phone and my airpod because I needed to listen to music anytime I decided to jog. I walked down the street, for a little warm up and soon began to jog. After jogging about 4 blocks, I decided to head back home. While heading back, I decided to take a short cut that I had discovered a few months ago. Although it was through the woods, and I would probably get eaten by wild animals, it was a shorter distance compared to where I would usually walk.

'But what if something happens? There's no one around', my subconscious adds. Suddenly, doubts began to cloud my mind and I began to imagine every possible negative thing that might happen to me if I decide to take the shortcut.

"You are such a wimp", I scolded myself. "You have taken this route more than once, the odds of you getting hurt or attacked is slim." I fi ally convinced myself enough so I took the shortcut. I was almost home when I thought I heard something. I took out my airpods and moved closer to where I thought I heard the sound. I stopped behind a small tree and listened.

" Did you get what you needed?", a voice asked. Another one answered. "Yea, I did. But not quite enough as the Alpha wanted."

Alpha? What the hell is a Alpha? Is that like a name given to someone in a gang? My brain churned.

I turned to go the other way, hoping that he wouldn't follow me, but two other men who I assume are the ones I heard talking, blocked me also. "What do you freaks want?", I shouted but my voice came out as weak yelp. I was scared. Before I could even start cussing them in colorful words, one of them signaled to the man behind me. I tried to comprehend what he was doing, but a cloth clamped over my mouth. I tried to scream and struggle, but strong hands held me down.

My knees started to give way and my vision blurred. What the hell were they doing to me? And before I could think of anything else, I felt myself slowly blacking out and I allowed the darkness to take me.
