I glanced at Alexander questioningly.
He understood immediately.
"After everything that’s happened recently," he explained calmly, "I realized it isn’t safe for you to go anywhere without security."
I nodded silently.
First Alexander had been attacked.
Then I was kidnapped only days later.
It was only natural to be cautious now.
Especially since I still didn’t know whether Lucas Summer had been arrested yet.
When we finally stopped in front of my father’s gravestone, I quietly placed the bouquet of flowers down before reaching out to lightly trace the engraved name on the stone.
"Dad... I’m here to see you."
My voice trembled slightly.
"I’ve missed you so much."
My eyes slowly reddened.
"Not long ago, I dreamed about you again," I whispered softly. "It was the old courtyard back home... I was playing beneath the tree while you repaired my bicycle nearby."
A faint smile appeared on my lips, though it carried sadness.
"I wish that dream never ended."
"I wish I could’ve grown old with you..."
The cemetery fell quiet again.
After a long pause, I lowered my gaze to my stomach and gently rested my hand there.
"So many things keep happening lately..." I murmured. "But I’m grateful my baby stayed strong."
"I hope that one day... I’ll be able to bring him—or her—to visit you too."
The moment my emotions began to spiral, Alexander crouched beside me and gently held my hand.
"Alicia," he reminded softly, "the doctor said pregnant women shouldn’t get too emotional. It’s not good for the baby."
I nodded lightly.
After staying there a while longer, I finally asked him to take me back to the car.
Alexander carefully pushed me away from the gravestone while the bodyguards followed several steps behind us.
Soon, Jim drove us back toward the villa, with the security vehicle trailing closely behind.

When we returned to the master bedroom in the villa, I looked at Alexander curiously.
"You haven’t been staying at the office for long these past few days. Is everything okay at work?"
"It’s fine," he replied softly. "I just want to spend more time with you."
For a moment, I didn’t know how to respond to that.
Alexander suddenly walked toward the table nearby and picked up a few books.
"I bought these earlier," he said.
"What books?"
He handed them to me.
The moment I saw the titles, my eyes widened in surprise.
"How to Support Your Wife Through Pregnancy*, Important Things to Know as a Soon-to-Be Dad..."
There were several others stacked beneath them.
I looked back at him, unable to hide my surprise. "Do you really think you’ll finish all these?"
"It’s fine," he said calmly. "There are still a few months left. I’ll read them slowly."
Before I could respond, his phone suddenly rang.
Alexander glanced at the screen before standing up. "I’ll step outside to take this."
He walked toward the balcony, while I silently sat watching his back.
Third Person POV
Once Alexander stepped onto the balcony, he answered the call.
"Hello."
"Sir, we’ve gathered enough evidence," the officer reported. "Including CCTV footage from a camera near the building. It captured Lucas Summer leaving his car and entering the area around the time of the incident."
Alexander’s expression darkened slightly, but he remained silent.
"Combined with the suspect’s statement, we were able to obtain an arrest warrant. We’ll be arresting Mr. Summer today."
"That’s good," Alexander replied calmly. "Keep me informed if anything else comes up."
"Yes, sir."
After ending the call, Alexander stood quietly on the balcony for a while.
The police had wanted Alicia’s statement, but considering her condition, he refused to let them question her. He didn’t want those memories resurfacing while she was still recovering.
Fortunately, the investigation had progressed without it.
Once Lucas was arrested, Lilian would be sent abroad.
Then Alicia would finally be safe.
At least, that was what Alexander believed.

Attempted murder of Alicia Sinclair.
