Chapter 90: Discharge Tension

"Your grandma and I already ate," Uncle added, clearly sensing my hesitation. "Alicia, you should eat."

"I already had breakfast..."

"Then have a little more," Alexander said.

I gave him a flat look—but still opened the containers and took a few bites.

"Nana wants to go home," I explained.

Nana immediately cut in, clearly worried Alexander might side with Uncle. "Alexander, don’t worry about it. I know my own body. It’s not as serious as you think. Staying here is uncomfortable—they keep restricting everything."

Alexander paused, his gaze lowering slightly as he considered her words.

Then he said, "Nana, your health isn’t something to take lightly. How about this—I’ll check with Dr. Harrison. If he agrees, we’ll arrange for you to go home."

Nana hesitated.

She clearly wasn’t confident the doctor would agree—but if he didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to argue anymore.

After a moment, she waved her hand dismissively. "Fine. Go ahead."

Third person POV

Alexander stepped out of the room and headed straight for Dr. Harrison’s office.

He understood the situation all too well. While everyone wanted the Chairwoman to remain in the hospital for proper treatment, he also knew that being confined there day after day would only make her feel trapped—and perhaps even worsen her condition.

Dr. Harrison spoke candidly, his tone calm but firm.

"To be honest, the Chairwoman’s condition can’t be reversed at this stage. It may be better to respect her wishes and let her recover at home. A positive state of mind can make a significant difference."

He paused briefly before continuing,

"I’ll prepare a list of necessary medications and equipment. My assistant can visit your home daily to monitor her condition."

Alexander gave a slight nod. "Alright. Thank you, Dr. Harrison."

After leaving the office, he made his way back toward the ward.

As he turned the corner, two doctors’ voices drifted into his ears.

"Ex-husband? So they were really married?" one of them asked, clearly surprised.

"It looks that way," the other replied knowingly. "Probably divorced not long ago."

Alexander’s steps slowed.

Chairwoman Blackwood was a major shareholder of St. Victoria Medical Center, and with her current hospitalization, coupled with Alexander Blackwood—the CEO of Blackwood Dominion Enterprises—frequently appearing at the hospital, it was only natural that rumors would spread among the staff.

Recently, the situation had intensified. Reporters had been lingering outside the hospital, and some had even attempted to sneak into the VIP ward. The hospital had already issued internal notices, instructing staff and security to handle the matter strictly.

The doctor on the right lowered his voice slightly, though the curiosity in his tone remained.

"I heard the woman involved is the one who’s been visiting the Chairwoman these past few days..."

He hesitated for a moment.

A few days ago, he had treated Alicia—and she had made one thing very clear: her ex-husband must not find out about her pregnancy.

At the time, he had assumed her ex-husband must be irresponsible, perhaps even cruel.

He hadn’t expected it to be Alexander.

The recent scandal involving a certain actress had already spread across the news. From what people were saying, she was the real third party—likely the reason behind Alexander and Alicia’s divorce.

"...so she’s the mistress everyone’s been talking about," he finished in a low voice.

"How do you know they were married?" the first doctor pressed.

The doctor on the right lowered his voice.

"Miss Alicia mentioned it herself... the day she was admitted."

He paused briefly, as if recalling something.

"She made one thing very clear—there was someone who mustn’t be informed..."He suddenly noticed someone approaching. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

His expression changed instantly.

"CEO Blackwood," he greeted, straightening up at once.

"CEO Blackwood," the other doctor echoed, his voice noticeably more cautious.

Alexander gave the two doctors a slight nod and walked past them.

After a few steps, he slowed... then paused briefly.

For a moment, the conversation he had just overheard echoed in his mind.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he continued down the corridor.

Alicia’s POV

Back in the ward, Roseline asked impatiently,

"What did Dr. Harrison say?"

Uncle and I both turned to look at Alexander.

"Dr. Harrison said Grandma can be discharged and continue resting at home," he replied calmly.

The moment Nana heard that, her confidence returned instantly. She shot Uncle and me a triumphant look.
