Chapter 137: Chapter 137: I’m Sleeping with Cecelia Archer Tonight

"What do you mean?"

Damien Vaughn was about to hash things out with Cecelia Archer when Mrs. Vaughn, having heard the commotion, came out of her room.

"Finished eating? If you’re done, come to bed. I’ll be sleeping with Cecelia tonight."

"This is my first time being a mother-in-law. I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’m quite excited. I have so much I want to talk to Cecelia about. Cecelia, you don’t mind, do you? You’re not going to refuse to sleep with me, are you?"

Cecelia Archer and Damien Vaughn were both caught off guard by her sudden proposal. They exchanged a look, and just as Damien was about to refuse on Cecelia’s behalf, Mrs. Vaughn, as if anticipating his move, added another sentence.

"Of course, if you do mind, then just pretend I never said anything."

After a statement like that, if Cecelia refused, she would basically be admitting she couldn’t stand her.

Although she was afraid of her and had no idea what the night would bring, Cecelia had no choice but to agree.

"Of course not. It’s an honor that you’re willing to sleep with me."

’I knew she wouldn’t dare refuse.’

Mrs. Vaughn nodded, looking smug and satisfied.

"Then it’s settled. Come on up."

Considering her behavior at dinner earlier, and now this, Damien Vaughn felt something was off. He was afraid his mother was plotting something to make things difficult for Cecelia, so he followed them a couple of steps up the stairs.

"Cecelia has had a long day; she’s tired. You’ve also had a long flight and must be exhausted. If you’re not in a hurry to leave, you can always save whatever you want to say for tomorrow."

Mrs. Vaughn shot him a displeased glance.

"This is between a mother and her daughter-in-law. Cecelia doesn’t have a problem with it, so you should stay out of it."

Damien Vaughn: "..."

Mrs. Vaughn feigned affection, pulling Cecelia by the arm. The three of them entered the room, and he was shut outside.

Candy wasn’t familiar with Mrs. Vaughn and could sense that the woman didn’t like her much, so she didn’t dare get close.

Once inside, she timidly hid behind Cecelia Archer.

Mrs. Vaughn bolted the door from the inside. Without so much as a glance at Candy, she instructed Cecelia Archer,

"There are some things that are inconvenient to say in front of a child. Go put her to bed first. I’ll wait for you on the sofa."

Cecelia grabbed her pajamas and had no choice but to take Candy to bathe first.

With the shower running, Candy lowered her voice and secretly asked Cecelia,

"Mommy, she seems so mean. She’s not going to give you a hard time while I’m asleep, is she? Don’t be afraid of her. Daddy is on your side. If she dares to bully you, just text Daddy and he’ll come save you!"

Cecelia’s heart warmed at her words, and she lovingly stroked her daughter’s head.

"She won’t. Grandma just got back, so she doesn’t know us well yet. It’ll be fine once she gets to know me. Don’t talk about Grandma behind her back anymore."

Though she comforted her daughter with these words, her own heart was pounding with uncertainty.

’She said she was tired and needed to rest before dinner was even over, so why is she still waiting for me now? What could be so important that we have to sleep in the same bed to talk about it?’

After bathing Candy and tucking her into bed, Cecelia didn’t dare waste a second and hurried to the living room.

On the sofa, Mrs. Vaughn was lying in an elegant pose, her eyes closed as if feigning sleep.

Cecelia thought she was asleep and tentatively called out, "Auntie?"

She slowly opened her eyes.

"Finished already? It took so long, I got tired of waiting. I hear you studied medicine and are particularly good at physical therapy. My legs are exhausted. Give them a massage for me."

Cecelia Archer: "??"

When Cecelia didn’t react, Mrs. Vaughn looked up at her.

"What? You’re not willing?"
