Chapter 14: Totally Disgusted

Editor: Henyee Translations

A blanket? In his suitcase? And he was planning to do that in a filthy abandoned factory?

The thought alone made Cecelia’s stomach turn.

"Where did you get the idea that my husband is an actor?" she demanded. "We’re legally married. And he’s a very important man in Veridia." She stared at Kevin coldly. "I’m warning you. Don’t do anything stupid. If you touch me, my husband won’t let you get away with it."

Kevin laughed.

The entire reason he’d brought her all the way to Corvane—and to an abandoned industrial district—was to avoid consequences.

So what if she was married? If something happened here, in a place with no witnesses and nobody around for miles, would she really dare tell anyone afterward?

And even if she did...

How could she prove it?

To Kevin, walking away now would make him a fool.

"Alright, alright," he said mockingly. "So you’re married to some big shot." He shrugged. "Big deal." A lewd grin spread across his face. "You’ve slept with your husband countless times already. One more man won’t make any difference."

His eyes roamed over her body. "I don’t mind secondhand goods." He crouched and began pulling a blanket from the suitcase. "Now come here and lie down."

The moment his attention shifted away, Cecelia bolted. She had barely taken two steps before he caught her wrist.

"You’re not getting away." Kevin tightened his grip. "This place is deserted. There’s nobody around." His voice grew increasingly unhinged. "So stop pretending you don’t want this." His eyes gleamed with obsession. "Do you know how long I’ve wanted you, Cecelia?"

A shiver crawled down her spine.

"Every night," he said hoarsely, "I dream about you." He pulled her closer. "Just give me this one time. I promise I won’t tell anyone."

Revulsion swept through her. Goosebumps erupted across her skin where his hand touched her. She fought against his grip with everything she had.

"If you touch me today, I’ll call the police!" Her voice shook with fury. "You still want a career, don’t you? Let me go, and I won’t tell anyone what happened here."

Kevin laughed. As if he would back down now. He had spent days planning this. He’d lied, manipulated, and traveled across states to get her here. There was no way he was leaving empty-handed.

When she continued struggling, he lunged at her. Startled, Cecelia stumbled backward.

Then—

Pain exploded through her foot. A rusted nail protruding from a loose board pierced straight through the thin sole of her flat. She gasped. The agony nearly brought her to her knees.

Kevin’s eyes lit up.

"You chose the hard way." His grin widened. "Fine." He stepped toward her. "Come here and let me give you a proper kiss." His gaze traveled slowly over her black sleeveless dress. "You dressed up beautifully today. For me, right?"

"Get away from me!" Cecelia shoved him with all her strength. "Stay back! You disgusting pig! Let me go!"

Kevin chuckled. "I didn’t know you had such a temper." His smile only grew. "Is this how you act around other men, too? No wonder they like you." He licked his lips. "Honestly, I think I like you even more now."

"You sick bastard!" Cecelia’s voice echoed through the warehouse. "My husband will kill you if he finds out!"

Kevin burst out laughing.

"Wake up, sweetheart. You don’t have a husband." His expression twisted. "Plenty of men have slept with you. None of them wants to marry you. Stop pretending." He pointed at himself. "I’m the only real man here." He spread his arms. "Come on. Call me honey."

Outside the abandoned factory, a black luxury sedan rolled to a stop.

Ryan stepped out first. Damien followed.

"Mr. Vaughn," Ryan said as they walked toward the warehouse, "this entire industrial district was shut down due to environmental violations. Once the factories relocated, property values collapsed." He opened a folder. "According to my investigation—"

Damien stopped abruptly. His brows furrowed. "Did you hear that?"

Ryan paused.

Both men listened.

A faint scream drifted from inside the building.

Ryan’s expression changed. "Someone’s in there."

Inside the warehouse, Kevin finally managed to pin Cecelia against the wall. He wasn’t particularly tall. But he was still far stronger than she was. Fueled by obsession, he ignored her struggling completely.
