My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 229

Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Being a Bad Guy for Once

A gust of night wind blew past, and Zeke Walton, standing at the mouth of the alley, sneezed twice. Only then did he realize just how cold it was.

He subconsciously moved to hug himself, but the moment he raised his arms...

"Holy crap! Blood?"

He’d never been injured in his entire life.

When he was a mischievous kid, he once secretly played with a fruit knife when the nanny wasn’t looking and gave himself a cut less than a centimeter long, which was enough to scare his parents half to death. A hand covered in blood... when had he ever seen such a grisly scene?

He turned his arm over to look. A long, thin, bloody gash ran down it, the skin seemingly scraped away, leaving a deep groove. Zeke Walton nearly threw up.

’How did I get like this!’

But there was no use being dramatic. He was all alone. Who was he going to be dramatic for?

Shaking the blood from his hand, he prepared to walk toward the main road to find his friends for help, but he felt something wet on his neck.

He reached up and touched it. ’Holy crap, my face is injured too! And it’s bleeding this much!’

’I’m not going to be disfigured, am I?’

Unable to see his own face, he didn’t dare to imagine what he’d do if it was gashed as deeply as his arm. How could he face anyone after this?

A wave of self-pity and anger washed over him.

He had no phone, not a single cent on him, and no idea what street he was on. Even if he could call his friends for help, it wasn’t like he could get to them anytime soon!

"Fuck!"

Utterly dejected, Zeke Walton kicked the wall.

Just as he was wallowing in his misery, a shadow quietly reappeared at the alley’s entrance.

Zeke Walton sensed someone watching him. He’d been looking for a place to vent his anger, so he shot a vicious glare in that direction.

It turned out to be the girl who had just left.

She had come back.

Meeting his murderous gaze, the girl’s face filled with terror. But after a few seconds of hesitation, she mustered her courage, parked her scooter, and got off.

"I didn’t mean to come back and bother you. I lost my keys, they were in my pocket. I just came back to see if I dropped them here. You... you can continue. I’ll leave as soon as I find them."

As she spoke, she hunched over and scurried past Zeke Walton as if he were the plague.

She turned on her phone’s flashlight and waved it over the ground a few times. A black key on a red string was lying quietly on the pavement.

It must have dropped when he’d handed her the jacket earlier.

The girl felt a surge of joy at finding what she’d lost. She snatched the key and, without daring to glance at Zeke Walton, hunched over to sneak past him again. But this time, Zeke suddenly reached out and grabbed her by the collar.

"Mis-Mister..."

Even in the dim light, the terror in her eyes was unmistakable.

"I don’t think I disturbed you, did I?"

’I must look really terrifying right now,’ he thought. ’Usually, any girl who sees me offers a smile, desperate for a chance to talk to me. Look how scared I’ve made her.’

Zeke Walton glared at her irritably for a few seconds before letting go of her collar and walking over to the electric scooter.

He bent down to look in the mirror and saw he really did look like an actor who’d just walked off the set of a horror movie.

His sleeve was torn, his arm was covered in blood, and the blood running down his face had stained the front of his sweater red...

Sighing in frustration, Zeke Walton looked at the girl, who was frozen in place.

"You got any tissues?"

’Oh, so he just wanted to use the mirror.’

’As long as he’s not a threat to me, it’s fine.’

The girl nodded hastily. "There’s a pack in the storage compartment. I’ll get it for you."

Zeke Walton had expected a large pack, enough to clean off all the blood. But when the girl pulled it out, it was just a small travel pack of tissues, and it was already half-empty. Zeke used it up in two pulls.

"Got any more?"

The girl shook her head honestly. "That’s it."

Zeke blotted the blood on his face. It helped a little, but not much; a lot of it had already clotted.

’If I go out looking like this, I’ll definitely cause a panic.’

"Then I’ll have to trouble you to go buy me another pack. Get wet wipes."
