My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 290

Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Who Sent You Here?

By the time Cecelia Archer got home, Candy was already asleep.

After her episode, Shane Grant had immediately called a doctor to the house. They had given her medication, and her condition had stabilized.

Shane Grant also had some good news for her.

"I’ve been in touch with the bone marrow bank, and they’re going to arrange a new match for Candy. Don’t worry. Candy will definitely get better within the year."

Cecelia Archer was deeply moved. Damien Vaughn had tried to help so many times before to no avail. It seemed Shane had been working hard on this behind the scenes.

"Thank you, Shane."

"Is there any need to thank me? Just wait for the good news."

Shane Grant looked at Cecelia Archer’s exhausted face, his heart aching for her.

"You’ve been working so hard lately, and the kids have been cooped up at home for a while. They’ve been nagging me every day about wanting to go to an amusement park. Once Candy’s feeling a bit better, let’s take them on a short trip. Otherwise, it’s not good for their development, physically or mentally."

Cecelia Archer understood.

Since she had gotten injured last year, Candy and Annie had been stuck at home for several months.

It wasn’t just "not good" for them; it was terrible.

"But you just had surgery..."

"But I have you, don’t I? Besides, I’ve been resting for so long now, it’s not a big deal. We won’t go too far. There’s a resort hotel in the suburbs with a nice environment. We can just go for a few days."

After his second uncle and aunt left, Damien Vaughn saw his grandfather trembling with rage. Instead of going straight to bed, he took the old man’s hand and began to massage it.

"I’m sorry I couldn’t make it back for the New Year. You’re not mad at me, are you?"

His grandfather closed his eyes, grunting only after several seconds had passed.

"You’re the head of the family now. Who would dare be mad at you?"

"I’m the head of the family? Alright, since even you admit it, then you should listen to me from now on."

He suppressed his own frustrations and playfully reached out to stroke his grandfather’s beard.

"You must be bored to death cooped up at home, right? I’ll take you out. We’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning."

He succeeded in making his grandfather laugh.

"You little brat, you even dare to tease me now?"

"How could I? I’m serious. Tell me, what were you thinking back then, having us live so close to Second Uncle and the others? Now, even after a little argument, we still have to see them all the time."

"And here I thought you were being so filial, offering to take me on a trip. Turns out you feel awkward too and just want to hide from them?"

Damien Vaughn replied, "Am I the type of person to get awkward? I’m just worried you’ll be caught in the middle. We’ll stay for a few days, and once the Vaughn Group reopens, I’ll go straight back to work. Out of sight, out of mind."

His grandfather sighed. "It’s all my fault. I was too career-focused when I was young and neglected my children’s upbringing. Your father, your second uncle, and your third uncle... the three of them combined aren’t worth one of you."

"Come on, Grandpa, be content. The Vaughn Group is already this powerful with just one grandson like me. If all three of them were like me, would we even let anyone else survive? We have to at least leave them a fighting chance."

Damien Vaughn’s words made his grandfather laugh out loud.

"Damien, the only reason I’m still holding on is you. *Sigh*..."

The next day, Cecelia Archer, Shane Grant, and their party arrived at Cloudmere Manor in the suburbs.

An hour later, Damien Vaughn and his grandfather also checked into Cloudmere Manor.

The children wanted to fish and catch shrimp, so Shane Grant booked a lake-view room.

His grandfather wanted to look at the mountains, read, and find some peace and quiet, so Damien Vaughn booked a mountain-view room.

The two groups, one on the east side and one on the west, went about their own activities. They somehow managed to stay for four days without once running into each other.

Four days later, at dusk on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, Candy and Annie had played so wildly that they had soaked through two sets of clothes in one afternoon. With no clean clothes left for them in the room, Cecelia Archer decided to get some from the car.
