Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Don’t Want to Separate

The two of them went to the bathroom.

Cecelia Archer wanted to carefully help him take off his jacket, but after several attempts, Damien Vaughn was drenched in sweat from the pain and it still wouldn’t come off.

Having no other choice, Cecelia found a pair of scissors and cut the sleeve off.

Just as she had expected, not only had the wound split open into a gash the size of a baby’s mouth, but his arm had also swollen up like an elephant’s trunk.

The skin was so swollen it looked translucent.

Combined with the blood that was trickling down, the sight was absolutely gruesome.

Cecelia only needed one glance before she had to look away.

"You... you were able to sleep last night with your arm like this?"

Damien didn’t know how he’d managed to fall asleep last night either. His arm had been hurting like hell.

’Maybe it was because she was with me.’ Whenever she was by his side, he slept better than if he’d taken a sleeping pill.

"Enough with the nonsense. Hurry up, take out the stitches and sew me up again. It’s killing me."

In its current state, that wasn’t possible. The swelling had to go down first.

With trembling hands, Cecelia removed the stitches, bandaged the wound, and told him to go eat.

"You eat breakfast first, take some fever reducers and anti-inflammatories, and get the IV drip started. I’ll go get Candy settled, and then I’ll come back for you, okay? By the time I’ve taken care of her, the IV should be about done. I promise I’ll be back. Otherwise, I won’t be able to explain myself to them."

Damien could understand.

After all, she had snuck out last night after the kids were asleep. If she didn’t return this morning, anyone would be worried.

"Then go. If you dare come back late, then don’t ever show your face to me again."

Cecelia hurried back to her room. The children were just waking up.

Today was the first day back to work after the holiday. They had been playing for several days, and it was time to go home. She and Shane Grant checked out of the hotel and drove the children back together.

Cecelia was driving. Halfway there, Shane’s phone rang.

He grunted a few responses, then hung up and looked at Cecelia.

"Vaughn Group is back to work today. They need to discuss the international airport project and want you to attend a meeting. Sorry to trouble you."

’Damien must have arranged this. It gives me a legitimate excuse to get away from Shane.’

Cecelia had been worrying about what to tell Shane, so she nodded guiltily.

"It’s no trouble. It’s part of my job."

After the long drive, Cecelia returned to the villa.

The morning rush hour traffic was a bit heavy, so it took her longer than expected to get back. Afraid that Damien would be angry, she parked the car and immediately bolted for the elevator.

She was moving so fast that she didn’t even notice when she brushed past Gwen Morgan.

Gwen knew today was the first day back at work for the Vaughn Group, but Damien was still at the villa and hadn’t left yesterday.

She had heard from Miller that not only had he failed, but he had also accidentally injured Damien. Gwen had worried all night and decided to use today as an excuse to come and check on him.

She had brought some congee her housekeeper had made for the old master, but she’d forgotten it in the car. She never expected to run into Cecelia in the short time it took to turn back and get it.

’That damn woman she hated to the point of grinding her teeth... How dare she still be here!’

To find out Cecelia’s exact room number, which would make it easier for that idiot Miller to act next time, Gwen forgot all about the congee and quietly followed Cecelia back into the lobby.

The elevator went straight to the top floor. Watching the numbers change, she felt a flicker of doubt.

Before coming, she had specifically called the old master to confirm that the two presidential suites on the top floor were booked by him and Damien. So why was Cecelia also going to the top floor?

’Is she going to see Damien?’

’Are they really that brazen?’

’Even I, an outsider, am afraid the old master will drop dead from shock if he finds out Cecelia is still alive. As much as I hate Cecelia, as much as I want her dead, even I didn’t dare tell him. And yet, his own grandson has the audacity to put her in the room right next to his grandfather?!’

Gwen almost died from indignation at her own supposed kindness.

’If I’d known Damien cared so little about the old master’s life, I would have told him long ago! What’s the point of using Miller?’
