Mrs. Walton had her chauffeur get out of the car and call Amina over.
Amina brought the coffee to the car, her eyes meeting the youthful, elegant face of Mrs. Walton. She was completely baffled.
’This is the first time I’ve had an order like this—someone just sitting in a car on the side of the road, waiting. And why is she looking at me so strangely?’
"Hello, here’s your coffee. My apologies, I had a little trouble finding you, so it took a bit longer."
"Not at all. You were very quick."
Amina had a slight accent, but it wasn’t thick. Combined with her looks, it was actually quite complementary, lending her an unexpected charm.
Mrs. Walton looked at her with a gentle expression. "Could you get in the car and chat with me for a bit? This won’t interfere with your work, will it?"
Amina froze.
’Get in the car and chat with her? What a strange request.’
"I have other orders to pick up, so I’m afraid I can’t. Ma’am, is there something you need?"
Mrs. Walton hadn’t wanted to reveal her identity so soon, but seeing Amina’s wariness, she felt she had no choice.
"I’m Zeke Walton’s mother."
Amina’s mind went blank, short-circuiting for a few seconds.
’Zeke Walton’s mother.’
She knew Zeke was young, a successful entrepreneur with money. But she’d never imagined his mother would also be this wealthy—or this young.
Back when they delivered food together, they would zip around the streets on their electric scooters. Zeke, worried she might accidentally scratch someone’s car, had taught her to recognize a number of luxury car emblems.
Amina could clearly identify the car before her as a Bentley.
She didn’t know the exact price, but she remembered Zeke saying that even the entry-level models cost several million.
It was one thing to know Zeke, but she had never considered meeting his mother, much less getting to know her. Amina’s legs started to feel weak.
Once inside the car, she had no idea what kind of expression to put on for Mrs. Walton, and her face flushed bright red.
"Ma’am, what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Just a casual chat. There’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m not fierce, and I don’t bite. You don’t have to be so nervous."
As she spoke, Mrs. Walton gently took Amina’s hand, cradled it in her own palm, and examined it from all angles.
"Your name is Amina?"
"Yes."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty."
"Only twenty and already working. How long have you been at it?"
"I just started, at the beginning of the year."
"And you came straight to Veridia when you started?"
"Yes."
"Did you follow a relative here?"
"Yes."
"Did your relative find this job for you?"
"Yes."
"Before you came to Veridia, were you in school? How far did you get?"
"I finished high school and then stopped."
’Oh. At least she graduated from high school. No wonder she speaks so differently from those two brothers.’
Mrs. Walton glanced at Amina’s youthful, pretty profile, then down at her hands, which seemed so out of place with her face. She actually felt a twinge of pity for the girl.
"How did you and Zeke meet?"
Amina explained how she had coincidentally met Zeke in the villa complex one day, and Mrs. Walton nodded.
