My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Uncle, Candy Doesn’t Want to Die

"Ah! Candy, what happened to you?"

Cecelia Archer had just brought the two children back to the courtyard. She asked a waiter for another serving of non-spicy beef, as Annie was still complaining that her mouth was on fire. Cecelia then asked the waiter for two bottles of milk to help the kids with the spiciness.

She had only been gone for a moment. When she came back outside, Candy had hit her forehead on the edge of a stone step. She was drenched in blood from her face to her clothes—a terrifying, blood-soaked figure.

Cecelia Archer screamed and nearly fainted.

Hearing the scream, Shane Grant, Damien Vaughn, and Uncle Lee rushed out from inside the room.

They were all shocked to see Candy in such a state.

Damien Vaughn was the fastest, lunging forward in a single bound to scoop Candy into his arms.

"What happened? How did she get like this?!"

Annie stood by, her face pale with fright, completely at a loss.

"I didn’t mean to! We were playing tag, and I accidentally pushed her down. But I really didn’t mean to..."

"Waiter! Get a clean towel to stop the bleeding! Is there a doctor? Hurry!"

There was so much blood that the wound was obscured, its size and depth unknown. All he knew was that the situation was critical. Damien Vaughn’s face was grim as he roared at the waiter.

The waiter, who had never seen anything like this before, was trembling with fear.

"N-no. The towels have all been used for wiping tables. There are no clean ones."

’If we don’t stop this bleeding, she’ll go into shock at this rate.’

Anxious, Damien Vaughn whipped his head around, searching desperately, until his eyes landed on Cecelia Archer’s dress.

"Get over here!"

Cecelia steadied her trembling legs and rushed to him, reaching for Candy. But Damien suddenly squatted down, still holding Candy, and grabbed the hem of her dress.

Cecelia felt a coolness on her leg as Damien lifted the dress halfway up.

He lowered his head, bit down on the fabric, and with a sharp tug, ripped a long strip from the hem.

Cecelia quickly knelt down to help him bandage Candy.

"Candy, sweetie, don’t cry. It’s okay. Mommy’s taking you to the hospital right now. Be a good girl."

It didn’t actually hurt that much; she was mostly just scared.

With her mother and the man beside her, Candy soon stopped crying, though she was still terrified.

"Uncle, don’t go. Don’t leave me. Candy’s scared. Candy doesn’t want to die."

In that moment, she was like a luminous pearl in Damien Vaughn’s eyes—so fragile he feared she might shatter with the slightest pressure.

"Don’t worry. Uncle is here. Candy will be okay. I promise you that."

Once the wound was bandaged, Damien Vaughn stood up and apologized solemnly to Uncle Lee.

"Uncle Lee, I have to take the child to the hospital."

"Go on. Don’t panic. Be safe on the road."

With that said, Damien Vaughn took off, running out with Candy in his arms.

Cecelia Archer also quickly apologized to Shane Grant and Annie before turning to chase after them.

’After all, he was the one who brought Cecelia and Candy here. They were even staying at his house. How could Shane Grant not get involved at a time like this?’

"Don’t worry, I’ll go with you."

By the time they rushed to the car, Ryan had already started it and driven off with Damien Vaughn.

Shane Grant drove Cecelia, following close behind them all the way to Serenity Hospital, which was funded by the Vaughn Group.
