My Fated Alpha's Cruel Game (Elena and Marcus) novel Chapter 191

Chapter 191: Chapter 191 Return to Nightmares

Dawn’s POV

The crucial pages of that forbidden book burned into my memory before I dared touch anything else. I needed to grasp the essential details first, then rely on Asher to fill the gaps later.

Being caught with this book would spell disaster. My hands trembled as I slipped it back onto the shelf, and we slipped out of the library like shadows.

We wandered across the base, our minds racing with fragments of information, when Corbin materialized in our path like a predator stalking prey.

"Gear up, both of you. We’ve located where those displaced packs fled after abandoning their territories." His voice carried an edge that made my skin crawl.

"Where exactly?" The question escaped before I could stop myself.

"Just be ready. Departure in thirty minutes." He pivoted sharply, his boots striking the ground with military precision as he headed toward the officer’s quarters.

Asher and I exchanged a loaded glance before hurrying to our barracks. The atmosphere crackled with tension as we suited up for a mission shrouded in secrecy. Other soldiers moved around us with the same urgent energy, their faces grim and focused.

The helicopter pad buzzed with activity when we arrived. Our familiar Hunter team stood alongside several newcomers who had arrived that morning, their fresh faces betraying nervous anticipation.

Corbin appeared like a chess master, dividing us into groups with calculated precision. He made sure to place Asher and me on separate aircraft, a move that surprised absolutely no one.

The separation felt deliberate, almost cruel.

"Dawn, can you hear me?" Asher’s voice sliced through my consciousness like a warm blade.

"How are you doing that?" My mental voice wavered with amazement.

"Pack bonds allow mind linking between members. When you were taken, they never officially severed your connection to our pack. That invisible thread still binds us together, allowing this communication." His explanation felt like a lifeline in the chaos.

"Any idea about our destination?" I pressed.

"Nothing. Complete radio silence on their end. Trust clearly isn’t their strong suit where we’re concerned." His mental tone carried bitter resignation.

"That much is painfully obvious." I agreed.

"Don’t lose hope. We’ll navigate through this mess, then return to free your parents from that hellhole."

"My parents." The words felt foreign on my tongue, like speaking a half-remembered language. "I never imagined hearing those words again."

Then recognition struck like lightning.

The landscape began triggering fragments of memory, pieces of a puzzle I’d tried desperately to forget. Rolling hills gave way to familiar rock formations, and a sick realization twisted my stomach into knots.

I knew exactly where we were headed.

The helicopter’s rhythm seemed to match my racing heartbeat as we flew deeper into territory that haunted my dreams. Every mile brought us closer to a place I’d hoped never to see again.

Corbin’s stare intensified, as if he could sense my growing agitation. His eyes held a knowing gleam that made my blood run cold. This wasn’t coincidence. This was orchestrated.

My hands clenched into fists as the truth crystallized. They weren’t just taking us on a routine mission. They were dragging me back to the scene of my worst nightmares, using me as some kind of twisted compass to guide them to their target.

The familiar landmarks below confirmed my darkest fears. We were approaching the territory where my life had been shattered, where innocence died and survival became my only religion.

Whatever waited at our destination, I knew it would test every ounce of strength I’d built since my rescue. The past was about to collide with the present in ways I wasn’t prepared for.

Asher’s voice had long since faded from my mind, leaving me truly alone with my mounting dread. The helicopter continued its relentless journey toward a reckoning I couldn’t escape.
