My Fated Alpha's Cruel Game (Elena and Marcus) novel Chapter 225

Chapter 225: Chapter 225 Ancient Law Speaks

Marcus’s POV

I positioned myself where I could see Asher standing directly in front of Vanguard, close enough that I could taste the metallic tang of blood and earth that surrounded them both. Asher’s spine remained rigid, shoulders squared, arms hanging relaxed at his sides. Every mask had been stripped away, leaving only raw honesty. The fury that once consumed him had burned out. The terror that once paralyzed him had dissolved.

"My father believed in loyalty," Asher declared, his voice cutting through the heavy air. "Real loyalty. Not blind submission. He taught me the pack exists to shield others, not devour them."

Vanguard’s gaze snapped upward, annoyance flickering across his features as if Asher were merely a bothersome interruption rather than the reckoning he represented.

"My mother showed me what courage looked like," Asher pressed on. "She paid for it with her life."

His voice held steady. That was the cruelest part. The anguish lived inside him still, but carrying it for so long had transformed the pain into something unbreakable, something that could not be shaken.

"You didn’t murder them because they lacked strength," Asher continued, each word deliberate. "You destroyed them because they refused to become monsters like you."

The silence that followed was suffocating, pressing against my chest like a physical weight. Even the wounded wolves seemed to freeze, the entire clearing suspended in anticipation.

I realized then that something had shifted inside Asher. The vengeful rage he had expected to feel never materialized.

No burning heat. No desperate need to rip the man apart.

Just crystal-clear understanding.

Vanguard appeared diminished, smaller than he had ever seemed in Asher’s nightmares. Still dangerous, but exposed. The mythology he had constructed around himself lay in ruins. The aura of inevitability had cracked. He was nothing more than a wolf who had chosen brutality and disguised it as leadership.

Elena stepped forward, lifting her hand.

The ancient laws required no elaborate ritual. They demanded only recognition.

"Alpha Vanguard," she announced, speaking his title with deliberate weight. The words carried more condemnation than any curse. "You stand accused of violating sacred pack law, abusing your position, ordering unlawful executions, and breaking Alpha neutrality through unprovoked aggression."

Vanguard raised his head, defiance sparking like a dying flame. "Your accusations won’t change reality."

"They create it," Elena countered.

She turned toward the assembled packs, her voice projecting clearly across the open space. "Ancient law declares that any Alpha who violates sacred challenge forfeits all protection of rank. You have witnessed the evidence. You have seen the crimes committed."

The Alphas present began moving forward one by one.

Not to attack.

To serve as witnesses.

"I acknowledge the charges," Damien stated, his tone unwavering.

"As do I," another Alpha confirmed.

Then came another voice. And another.

The testimonies layered together, different voices from different territories, but sharing the same terrible finality. Each acknowledgment fell like a hammer blow against iron.

Elena faced Vanguard once more.

"Under ancient Alpha law," she declared, "you are stripped of your position."

The pronouncement carried crushing weight, reshaping the very air around them.

"You are denied all rank," Elena continued. "Denied your name. Denied your territory."

Vanguard bared his teeth in a vicious snarl. "You cannot steal what I created."

"We can," Elena replied simply. "And we will."
