My Fated Alpha's Cruel Game (Elena and Marcus) novel Chapter 96

Chapter 96: Chapter 96 They Already Knew

Elena’s POV

The moment I reached the edge of the forest, my body transformed into my wolf form. My paws hit the earth with fierce determination as I surged forward to catch up with Damien. His powerful black wolf was already ahead of me, pursuing Marcus with deadly intent.

We had crossed beyond our territory’s boundaries, and the sound of terrified screams echoed through the air from the direction we were heading.

Marcus had reached the human settlement and was clearly wreaking havoc. The thought of innocent people facing one of our kind filled me with dread.

Our massive wolf forms would be absolutely horrifying to any human who witnessed us. We were far larger than any natural wolf they might have encountered.

Damien and I maintained our pace side by side. His midnight black coat contrasted sharply with my pristine white fur as we raced through the dense woodland until the trees began to thin out.

"We’re going to be exposed," Damien warned through our mental link.

"I don’t care. I won’t let him slaughter innocent people," I shot back, pushing my legs harder as we continued our sprint toward the town where chaos had erupted.

The moment we burst into the settlement, panic spread like wildfire among the humans. People scattered in every direction, their screams piercing the air. Many dove into shops and locked themselves inside their vehicles, while others fled down the streets in pure terror.

Seeing Damien and me charging into their town only amplified their fear. They probably assumed we were there to join Marcus’s rampage rather than stop it.

It didn’t take long to locate Marcus in the town center. People had barricaded themselves in storefronts, crouched behind cars, and were desperately trying to escape his presence. Several civilians remained trapped in the open, completely vulnerable to his attack.

For the moment, he seemed content with terrorizing everyone rather than actually harming them.

Damien came to an abrupt halt when Marcus’s wolf came into view, but I didn’t hesitate for even a heartbeat.

The instant I spotted him, I launched myself forward with everything I had. My body collided with his, sending us both crashing to the ground in a tangle of fur and claws. We rolled across the pavement until momentum finally stopped us, and I sprang to my feet, facing him with a menacing growl while baring my fangs.

Marcus mirrored my stance, his lips pulled back to reveal his own deadly teeth, muscles coiled and ready to strike. That’s when Damien positioned himself behind Marcus, his low growl serving as a clear warning not to make a move toward me.

I was dimly aware of the humans watching us from their hiding places, but my primary concern was getting these people to safety.

Some of the bystanders had stopped fleeing to watch our confrontation unfold, and their stupidity was getting on my nerves.

"I can end this right now if you want," Damien offered through our connection.

"Don’t kill him yet," I replied firmly.

"Why not?" he demanded.

"We need to get him away from here first. We can’t leave his body behind," I explained.

"I don’t follow your reasoning," Damien snapped impatiently.

"We won’t be able to transport his corpse with us. I refuse to leave him here for the military to discover. If they get their hands on his body, they’ll learn everything about our kind," I said.

"Fine. So we force him out of town. How do we accomplish that?" Damien asked.

"We attack him until he retreats back to pack territory," I answered.
