66 Chapter 66 Obsidian Intruder

Elena’s POV

Without warning, hands seized me from behind. My body reacted before

my mind

could process the threat. I spun around and drove my fist straight into my attacker’s throat. The figure stumbled backward, crashing against the wall while clutching his neck and struggling to breathe.

Leo,” I said, recognizing him through the dim hallway light.

Yeah. It’s me. What the hell was that for?he wheezed, still trying to catch his breath.

How was I supposed to know it was you?I shot back, my heart still pounding from the adrenaline rush.

The sound of our confrontation drew Damien and Gage from their rooms. They appeared in the hallway, both looking alert and ready for trouble.

What’s happening?Damien demanded, his eyes scanning the scene.

Look in there,I said, gesturing toward my bedroom door.

Damien stepped forward and peered into my room. His head snapped back, his expression shifting to one of complete shock.

Why are you here, Leo?Gage asked, his voice tense.

I spotted someone running from the house. Since you asked me to keep Elena safe, I sent some of my warriors after the intruder and came inside to check on her,Leo explained, rubbing his throat where I had struck him.

He crept up behind me and I hit him in the throat. I had no idea who it was,I said, feeling slightly guilty but not entirely apologetic.

Don’t worry about that. Are you telling us someone did this while we were all home?Damien asked, his voice carrying a dangerous edge.

That’s right. I watched him escape through the back door,Leo confirmed.

I’ll check with the warriors,Gage said, already heading for the stairs.

As I turned to survey the damage again, I caught sight of two women lingering in the doorways of Damien and Gage’s rooms, clearly waiting for their company to return.

“Damien,” one of them called out in a sultry voice.

I’m occupied. Either wait or get dressed and leave,Damien replied curtly.

Such a charming gentleman,I said with heavy sarcasm before stepping back into my destroyed room.

I began examining everything systematically, searching for any missing items. Nothing seemed to be gone, which made the whole situation even more unsettling.

So they broke in but didn’t steal anything,Damien observed, following me inside.

That’s how it appears. They left me a message, but I wish they had been more direct. I can’t figure out what they’re trying to communicate,I said, frustration creeping into my voice.

Do you think Marcus could be behind this?Damien asked quietly, keeping his voice

low.

I don’t see how that’s possible. According to you, he believes I’m dead,I replied.

I’ll believe that when I see concrete proof. He probably told me that story because I’m the most likely person to assist you,he said.

If that’s true and he has someone inside your pack feeding him information, then he already knows I’m alive. Unless this is something entirely different,I said.

We can’t eliminate any possibilities,he agreed.

I started gathering my scattered belongings while Damien and Leo joined me in cleaning up the mess. My clothes had been thrown everywhere, creating chaos throughout the room. While the two men were distracted with organizing, I discretely checked the back of my closet to ensure the book from Marcus’s pack remained hidden behind the false wall.

Relief flooded through me when I found it still in place. That book was the only evidence Marcus would need to confirm I was still breathing. There was absolutely no

way I could let that happen.

The longer I considered the situation, the more my thoughts returned to Marcus and Viviana. The realization hit me harder each time I need to keep my child far away from both of them.

I refused to let them take my baby and raise it as their own. That scenario was entirely
