Elena’s POV

The silence from Julian and his family throughout the remainder of my pregnancy felt like a blessing. I had no desire to hear their voices or deal with their chaos. The whole prophecy situation still seemed absolutely absurd to me, something I preferred to push from my mind entirely.

Instead, I threw myself into my studies and preparing for the baby. Every prenatal appointment became a priority, ensuring my child would be healthy and strong. The medical reports consistently showed positive results, which gave me tremendous relief.

One afternoon, returning from classes, I discovered the most incredible surprise waiting for me. The guys had worked magic in a single day, transforming my living space completely. They had knocked down the wall separating my bedroom from the adjacent room, creating a beautiful nursery that took my breath away.

Every detail had been perfectly planned and executed. A wooden crib sat positioned near the window, accompanied by a matching changing table stocked with everything imaginable. Baby clothes hung in miniature closets, bottles lined shelves, and toys waited patiently for tiny hands to discover them. The rocking chair positioned by the large window particularly touched my heart, offering the perfect spot to soothe my baby while gazing at the stunning view beyond the glass.

The thoughtfulness overwhelmed me completely. Nobody had ever shown me such kindness, such generosity without expecting anything in return. When I attempted to discuss repayment with Damien and the others, they firmly dismissed my concerns, insisting this was simply their gift to me.

Their timing proved impeccable. Just days after discovering the nursery, labor pains began striking me with increasing intensity.

Any stranger entering this room would assume we were a complete family unit, unaware of the complicated reality. Damien and I weren’t actually together, and Caleb wasn’t biologically his child. Yet something told me Damien would love this baby as if he were his own flesh and blood.

The hospital staff moved me to a private room, a luxury arranged specifically because the Alpha had insisted upon it. Chloe arrived shortly after, her arms filled with beautifully wrapped gifts for the baby. She couldn’t contain her excitement about holding him, cooing softly while the nursing staff provided exceptional care that clearly exceeded their usual service level.

“He stayed through my entire labor and made sure I got this private room,” I shared, still processing his dedication.

“Can you keep a secret? At least for now?” I requested, lowering my voice.

“Absolutely,” she agreed eagerly.

“So you’re going to become our Luna,” she said with obvious delight.

“Apparently so,” I replied, still adjusting to the concept.

“This is incredible news,” she exclaimed.

“Why not? You deserve happiness more than anyone else,” she insisted firmly.

After Chloe’s departure, I managed some dinner before Caleb woke demanding attention. I changed his diaper, fed him carefully, then settled him back to sleep before exhaustion claimed me as well.

Darkness had fallen when I woke again. Panic struck immediately when I noticed Caleb’s empty crib, but relief flooded through me when I spotted a large silhouette by the window.

“Hey, are you okay?” Damien asked, turning toward me with Caleb cradled securely in his strong arms.

“I’m fine, just frightened when I couldn’t see Caleb,” I explained, my heart still racing. “Sorry about that. He started fussing when I arrived, but you seemed deeply asleep,” he apologized.

“I can’t remember ever feeling this exhausted,” I confessed.

“I can imagine. I definitely wouldn’t want to experience what you went through,” he admitted.

“That’s probably why women have babies instead of men,” I joked weakly.

“Most likely,” he agreed with gentle humor.

I sat up properly, watching Damien approach with my sleeping son. His massive hands cradled Caleb so carefully, making my nine–pound baby appear incredibly tiny against Damien’s broad chest.
