Robert’s Point of View
My body was pressed entirely against hers, and I felt my hand covering her small hand that was gripping the weapon. I said in a low tone:
"You have to hold your grip tight."
I felt the muscles of her hand contract as she executed my order, so I continued:
"This is the safety catch; pull it down until you are ready to fire."
The scent of lavender emanating from her neck was assassinating my composure, but I continued guiding her hand over the cold metal. I said in a deep voice:
"Now... place your index finger on the trigger, but do not press. Aim at the target, Julie."
Her tone trembled as she asked with wide pupils in the mirror:
"Is this gun empty?"
I ignored her question and tightened my grip on her waist to give her the necessary stability, pressing my chest against her back.
I whispered beside her ear:
"When you decide to fire, do not pull the trigger violently... instead, press softly and gradually. Breathe deeply... then press."
Suddenly, with a movement I did not expect, she turned with lightning speed.
I found myself face-to-face with the black muzzle of the weapon.
Julie was aiming directly at my chest, her eyes gleaming with a defiance I had never known. She said in a sharp tone:
"I am aiming exactly at the target."
Not a single muscle in my face moved; instead, I stood contemplating her boldness, which sparked my hidden admiration. I said coldly:
"Do you really have the courage to fire?"
She smiled with a childish malice and extended her other hand to support the weapon, trying to suppress the trembling that betrayed her fingers. She said with a shaky strength:
"Yes... I do."
I stepped one step toward her, so the muzzle touched my shirt exactly at the position of the heart.
I asked her:
"Are you not afraid of the consequences?"
She replied with a fake confidence:
"No."
Then she pressed the trigger.
A dry, metallic "click" echoed in the silence of the room.
Her features relaxed slightly as she said with a kind of victory:
