Chapter 155: 155/The Don’s Shadow

Chapter 155

Robert’s Point of View

I stormed out of the club, rage boiling in my veins like lava. I got into my car and drove like a madman. I snatched my phone and dialed Carlos.

The moment he picked up, I roared: "Carlos! Is what I heard true? Was the shipment stolen?"

"Yes, Robert..." Carlos replied, his voice trembling with anxiety. "And unfortunately, we still don’t know who dared to do this."

I slammed my foot on the gas pedal until the car almost took flight, my knuckles turning white as I gripped the steering wheel. "I know who it is... I have only one enemy with the power and the balls to pull this off!"

"Who?" Carlos asked eagerly.

"I’m coming to you. Where are you now?" I snapped.

"At the warehouse."

I drove with suicidal speed toward the warehouse. When I arrived, I hopped out and marched inside, my heavy strides striking the ground with violence. In the frantic blur of movement, a man collided with me head-on. I lost my temper and shouted in his flushed face: "Watch where you’re going, you idiot!"

The man lifted his head and looked at me. I froze for a split second. He had strange green eyes deep and clear. Damn it, those eyes are exactly like Julie’s! A bizarre shiver ran through me, but I brushed it off instantly and pushed past him toward Carlos’s office.

I kicked the door open, letting it slam against the wall, and burst in shouting: "Fuck, Carlos! A multi-million dollar shipment gone up in smoke!"

Carlos looked at me with a face full of shock and fear, clasping his hands together. "Who would dare do this to us, Robert? Who is it that doesn’t fear death?"

"Alastair Morgan," I said, the veins in my neck nearly bursting from the pressure. "Commonly known as ’The Don’."

Carlos’s features went completely rigid, the blood draining from his face. "Damn it!" he muttered, taking a step back in disbelief. "How did you end up as an enemy to that man, Robert?"

I took a deep breath, trying to rein in my fury. "It’s a long story. Right now, we need to focus on how to get the shipment back."

Carlos shook his head in despair and slumped into his desk chair as if a mountain had fallen onto his shoulders. "It’s near impossible, Robert. You know the Don has power we can’t match. His influence crosses borders."

I slammed my hand onto his desk with a resounding thud. "Even so... we will get it back at any cost!" I thundered.

Carlos looked at me with genuine terror in his eyes, raising his hands as if to calm me down. "Every gang in New York and Mexico would die to protect the Don, Robert! You know his status; his word is the law there."

I leaned in until my breath was in his face. "Carlos... are you telling me things I already know?" I asked in a chillingly cold tone.

He swallowed hard, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "I’m just telling you what we’re up against," he said weakly. "The man is the biggest arms dealer in all of America. He’s been in the game for ages his reputation spans forty years! We can’t fight him... this is suicide."

"I don’t care, Carlos!" I snarled, sparks flying from my eyes as I clenched my fists until my nails dug into my palms. "I’ll get that shipment back from him no matter the price. I won’t let him break my will."

Carlos looked at me in confusion, raising his eyebrows as he tried to process the situation. "But how did this happen? If he’s been your enemy for a long time, why haven’t you mentioned him before? And why hasn’t he stolen previous shipments? Why today, specifically?"
