Chapter 211
Don Morgan’s POV
I sat on the wooden chair in the center of the warehouse, coolly exhaling cigarette smoke as I watched the door. Finally, Robert and his friend Carlos entered with cautious, agitated strides, dragging the Serpent between them.
My assistants stepped forward with weapons drawn. Robert stood there, his massive frame radiating tension, and barked in his booming voice, "I’ve brought you the Serpent. Where is Julie?"
I looked at the gun he was pointing at my assistant’s head and smirked. "Pointing a gun at him? For God’s sake, Robert... look around at the guards filling this place."
That’s when Carlos spoke, his face flushed, eyes gleaming with a rage that didn’t look like it belonged to just a ’friend.’ "You bastard, where is Julie? If I find out you’ve touched her, I’ll burn you alive!"
I arched an eyebrow and said slyly, "The girl belongs to Robert... why are you so angry, Carlos?"
Robert cut me off, his grip tightening on his weapon. "Where is Julie?"
"Lower your weapon first," I commanded. "And let the Serpent come to me."
He lowered his gun with agonizing slowness, as if every muscle in his hand was resisting the order. He let go of the Serpent, who stumbled forward until he stood before me.
Looking at his swollen face and his wretched condition, a wave of fury washed over me. "Did you torture my assistant, Robert?" I asked, my voice low and dangerous.
"We were just showing him some hospitality," Robert replied with provocative coldness.
I smiled bitterly. "Fine... I’ll make sure to show your girl some hospitality as well."
In a flash, Robert aimed his gun directly at me, the veins in his forehead bulging as he roared, "I’ll kill you right now!"
I remained calm, blowing smoke in his face. "Lower your gun, or the consequences will be dire."
I saw him hesitate, grinding his teeth so hard they nearly shattered. I never expected him to care for a woman like this. Finally, he lowered his weapon in defeat.
I signaled one of my guards. "Take their weapons."
The guard stepped forward, but Robert wasn’t going to bow easily. He aimed at the guard and dropped him dead in a second, his eyes flashing fire. "No one takes my weapon!"
Carlos shouted impatiently, "Give us Julie, now!"
I was starting to suspect Carlos; his concern was over the top. I let out a low chuckle. "Oh, Carlos... don’t tell me you have your eye on Robert’s girl?"
He faltered, his gaze flickering. "None of your business!"
"Two friends in love with the same girl?" I said, savoring the moment. "Oh, this makes the entertainment so much better."
Robert growled, "Enough, Don. The Serpent is in front of you. Give me Julie."
I straightened up in my seat. "Hmm... I’ll give her to you on one condition." I paused, then added, "You will both kneel. I want to see just how important this girl is to you."
Robert let out a savage growl. "Enough of this! Give me Julie!"
"Either you kneel, or she dies," I said flatly.
