Chapter 244: The Serpent’s Venom
Flashback – 23 Years Ago
Author’s POV
Inside the Bison Club, where dim lights danced through the rising haze of cigarette smoke, the game of Truth or Dare was taking a sharp, dark turn. The air was thick with a tension so palpable it could be cut with a knife. Mia leaned forward, slamming her palm onto the table as she stared at Martin in disbelief. "What is wrong with you, Martin? Have you lost your mind? What kind of request is that!"
Macy shook her head in protest, her voice rising in condemnation. "This is insane! Change it immediately."
Martin, however, leaned back coldly, a provocative smirk playing on his lips as he glanced at each of them. "Have you forgotten? No rules, no refusals. That is the law of the game, and you all agreed to it."
Amidst the noise and protest, Violet remained chillingly silent. She sat perfectly still, her eyes fixed and unmoving. Felix tried to step in to de-escalate the situation, glaring at Martin. "Martin, don’t you think you’ve gone too far?"
The protests grew louder, but Violet remained anchored in her seat, staring at the man they called The Snake. He returned her gaze with a lethal silence, his eyes tracking her every move like a predator waiting for its prey to flinch.
Finally, Violet broke the silence with a firm, steady voice. "I agree."
Everyone froze. Even Martin, the one who had issued the challenge, hadn’t actually expected Violet to agree. Mia grabbed her arm, screaming, "Violet! Are you crazy?"
"This is my decision, Mia," Violet replied, calmly pulling her arm away, her eyes never leaving The Snake.
The group was ready to continue the argument, but Violet raised her hand, silencing them with an air of absolute authority. "I don’t want anyone to interfere in this," she said in a tone that brokered no debate.
She stood up with unwavering confidence, looking directly at The Snake. "Aren’t you getting up?" she challenged.
The Snake rose slowly, his every movement calculated and fluid. Violet glanced around coldly. "Are there rooms here?" At that moment, Mia lunged forward, gripping Violet’s hand tightly, her eyes pleading. "Violet, please don’t do this."
Violet looked at her and slowly pulled her hand back. "Mia, I told you... this is my decision."
The Snake looked at them and gestured toward the hallway, his voice brief and low. "Come."
Violet followed him with confident strides. They headed toward heavy velvet curtains that separated the noise of the club from the depths of the building. When The Snake lifted the curtain, two massive guards appeared. The moment they saw him, they stepped aside immediately, bowing their heads in submission. Violet realized then that this was no ordinary man.
