Chapter 427: 427/Buy Me, Carlos!

Chapter 427

Julie’s POV

I spun on him, rage boiling in my chest like a torrent while my whole body trembled violently under the weight of the warm blood splattering my face and neck.

I screamed at him, my voice tearing through my throat:

"You bastard!... What if your hand had slipped and you shot me?!"

He slid his gun back into the holster beneath his jacket with measured slowness. His steel features remained frozen, unblinking, before he drawled with dry, suffocating coldness:

"I’d bury you. It’s a very ordinary thing for me."

My pupils dilated in utter shock. I stared at the guard’s corpse sprawling at my feet, my voice raw with agony:

"And what did this poor man do to you for you to slaughter him so brutally?!"

He cast a glance at the dark stain blooming across the marble floorboards, then lifted his eyes to meet mine, uttering with absolute finality:

"He died because of you."

My eyes widened in indignation. I fought to catch my ragged breath, my voice rising: "Me?! How on earth am I to blame?!"

He tilted his head slightly, his gaze dropping to my hands still suspended mid-air. "You know exact reason why, Julie," he hissed softly.

I lifted my trembling hand, wiping the blood from my cheek with the back of my palm, smearing the burning red liquid across my skin. At that exact second, the scattered threads in my mind began linking together with dizzying speed...

If he pulled the trigger and stole this man’s life simply because I was about to wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him... and if he was the one who fucked me and didn’t leave me to a stranger, is it possible that everything I built in my head was a complete lie? Could that cursed phone call I overheard four years ago have been nothing more than a fatal misunderstanding?

I took a step back, locking my tear-filled eyes deep into his icy gaze, my voice trembling with desperate hope:

"You can’t stand me getting near anyone else... You can’t bear the thought of another living creature touching me. Does this mean you never actually intended to sell me to another man?!"

The muscles in his jaw locked tight, his fists clenching at his sides until his knuckles turned bone-white. "What are you talking about?" he barked out in sharp contempt. "What kind of utter nonsense are you spewing?!"

I stepped closer, closing the distance until I nearly touched his chest. "Robert... please, tell me the truth! If you really didn’t sell me, it means everything I understood over all these years was just a horrific mistake!"

A cruel, arrogant sneer twisted his lips. He raised his brows with cold detachment. "I didn’t let you near that damned guard because he hadn’t paid your price yet... So stop imagining grand illusions and building heroic fantasies inside your little head."

My heart skipped a beat. "Are you still insisting you weren’t the man who fucked me in that room?" I whispered with a shaking voice.

He spat out his response, challenging every single fiber of my soul: "Yes... It wasn’t me."

I drew a sharp, audible breath, feeling the bitter sting gather in my throat. "So..." I began, my tone laced with a broken defiance, "...you are telling me right now that you would let anyone who buys my night touch this body?"

He locked his eyes into mine without a single blink, uttering with terrifying clarity: "Yes... Exactly."

A cold shudder ran down my spine. "How much am I worth to you, Robert?" I asked in a faint voice.

His eyes scanned my disheveled state and the blood coating me from top to bottom, before he replied in a purely commercial, emotionless tone:

"A million dollars."

I gasped in utter disbelief. "A million dollars... for a single night?!"

"Yes," he replied with absolute audacity.

The color drained from my face. I searched the depths of his dark eyes, trying to pierce through his mask. "Which means... you aren’t jealous over me at all?"

He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping into a venomous whisper: "I will never be jealous over you, Julie... Not now, and not ever."

Suddenly... a deep male voice echoed from the end of the corridor, shattering the hellish silence. Carlos approached with slow, hesitant steps, asking in bewilderment:

"What the fuck is going on here?!"

I spun around toward Carlos immediately. In that exact fraction of a second, a reckless, dark impulse flared to life deep within me a desperate urge to crush that steel composure and split his cursed pride in two!

Ignoring Robert entirely, I marched toward Carlos with resolute steps. Extending my blood-stained palm, I seized his hand tightly right before their eyes.

I raised my head, locking my gaze into Carlos’s bewildered eyes, my voice ringing out clear, loud, and unshakeable:

"Can you buy me, Carlos?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
