Chapter 66: 67/A crime committed right before my eyes

Chapter 67:

Julie’s Point of View

While I was screaming in his face, the guard didn’t hesitate for a moment;

he suddenly bent down and clamped his powerful arm around my waist,

then lifted me high to place me over his shoulder,

solid as a piece of furniture.

The world flipped around me, and my head hung behind his back, blood rushing to my face which flushed intensely.

He stepped out of the room with wide, steady strides, indifferent to my weight or my resistance.

I began striking his back with both my hands and kicking his legs with my bare feet in a desperate attempt to unsettle him, but he was like a rock;

he didn’t stagger, and not even a groan of annoyance escaped him.

I said in a loud, stifled voice, while my body swayed with every step he took in the hallway:

"Let me go, you wretch! Put me down now... I told you, put me down!"

My chest was thumping against his hard back, and my long hair hung before my eyes to block my vision;

I could see nothing but the carpet receding beneath us at high speed.

He ignored me completely and didn’t utter a single word,

as if my screaming and my attempts to escape were merely trivial noise not even worth the effort of looking back,

continuing to drag me toward my unknown fate with Robert.

When the guard stopped before the door of Robert’s office,

he clamped his hand on the handle and knocked loudly.

I became completely still, pressing my hand over my mouth firmly trying to suppress the nausea that had returned to sweep through my gut;

the position of my inverted head made my entrails churn once more.

Robert’s husky voice came from inside:

"Come in."

The guard pushed the door open and entered, then encircled my waist with his arm and set me on the floor.

My body swayed for a moment before I regained my balance,

and as soon as my feet were steady, I raised my hand and, with all the strength I had left,

delivered a slap that echoed throughout the room onto the guard’s face.

The guard’s body stiffened like a wall, and his jaw clenched so tightly that his facial muscles protruded.

I saw his eyes narrowing sharply, igniting with rage toward me.

I screamed in his face:

"I told you I didn’t want to come because I’m tired! Why did you carry me, you scoundrel?"

I breathed sharply as I watched him, then continued, my voice trembling:

"Who allowed you to touch me and carry me in this way? Who?"

At that moment, Robert moved.

He rose from behind his desk and walked toward us with steady, calm steps.

He didn’t turn to me and didn’t look into my eyes; instead, he fixed his cold gaze on the guard’s face.

He stood directly in front of him and said in a low tone:
