Rachel cast a worried glance at Willow, then looked at Hailey nervously as she wondered how Hailey would answer this.
She didn’t teach Hailey how to answer questions about her father. They never even touched the subject.
Hailey’s father was right here in the venue. He was also the key judge and the man with the strongest aura, Jasper Hughes!
Jasper had yet to find out that Hailey was his daughter.
Why did the host ask such a shocking question?
Rachel put her hands together and prayed that things would go smoothly.
As everyone looked up in anticipation of Hailey’s answer, Hailey spoke softly with a hint of grievance and sadness in her tone. “My daddy is dead…”
The crowd went silent.
Willow was shocked. She never expected Hailey’s answer.
Rachel was stunned by Hailey’s response too.
The crowd began to cast Hailey looks of sympathy.
Jasper frowned.
After a brief moment of shock, the host tried to smooth things over by saying with a smile, “It’s alright. Your daddy must have been a hero. You probably miss him a lot now, do you?”
She directed the microphone at Hailey once more.
Hailey shook her head, her twin braids swaying along with her. “I’ve never met my daddy and I don’t know what he looks like. He died by jumping into the sea.”
Willow was speechless.
She glanced at Jasper discreetly, feeling afraid.
This was Hailey’s first time interacting with Jasper. The little girl had yet to find out that Jasper was the father she had yearned for.
Willow felt heartbroken and upset.
Jasper squatted down to get closer to Hailey so he could put the medal around her neck. Hailey cooperated by approaching him so it would be easier for him.
The little girl’s tender and milky scent came wafting toward him the instant she closed in.
The cosy scent warmed Jasper’s heart.
He even found the milky scent familiar.
“Handsome mister, I know you,” Hailey said suddenly.
Willow had been feeling sad that her child wouldn’t get to acknowledge her father, but she tensed up upon hearing Hailey’s words.
