My Harvest Skill for Wasteland Survival novel Chapter 51

Chapter 51 Unwanted Visitors

Insects had devoured most of the plants, and herbivores that relied on them were now facing starvation.

To survive, those herbivores would inevitably migrate, and the carnivorous mutant beasts would follow!

Once all the wildlife disappeared, what would Greenfinch Base rely on to feed its population of two to three

hundred thousand?

Which meant, even with her overpowered Harvesting Ability, Reina could still end up starving. Stockpiling food for winter was no longer optional.

Right now, though, she needed to find a place to stay. Otherwise, once discharged, she’d have nowhere

As for that so-called home, she had no intention of returning. She wasn’t about to let herself get schemed against as she had in that dream.

With that thought, Reina typed “rent” into her smartwatch and began browsing listings.

But housing in the inner city was scarce and expensive. A simple one-bedroom apartment costs five thousand points per month, not including utilities.

Just as she was scrolling, the ward door suddenly opened.

A nurse walked in with two people and pointed to the bed near the door. “You’ll stay here. This room doesn’t have any male patients.”

Reina turned her head to look, and her pupils shrank.

Of all people, even lying here, she still ran into Francis.

How was his luck this good? Not only had he survived, but he also ended up in the same room as her.

“Hey, nurse, I refuse to share a room with a man. Please arrange another ward for him,” Reina said bluntly.

The nurse smiled. “Don’t worry. He’s not staying; it’s this young lady.”

Reina narrowed her eyes.

Only then did she notice the girl behind Francis. Her head was wrapped in bandages, and her eyes were swollen and bruised like purple walnuts. It was Amber.

Amber also noticed Reina, and she was clearly surprised.

Francis, as unpleasant as ever, let out a cold snort. “Like I’d want to stay in the same room as you.”

“Good. Then feel free to leave,” Reina shot back.

Seeing things about to escalate, the nurse quickly intervened. “I’m really sorry, but we’re short on rooms. If you absolutely can’t stay together, I’ll have to move one of you. There’s a vacant bed in the men’s ward next door, so…”

“Forget it, she can stay,” Reina cut in quickly, pointing at the curtain. “Please help me draw this, thanks!

“Alright.” The nurse stepped forward and pulled the curtain shut.

Reina’s bed was by the window, so even with the curtain drawn, the room still had plenty of light while blocking the other bed from view. She was satisfied.

By now, Maggie had already flown off, probably out hunting again.

Reina went back to browsing housing listings, and then she suddenly remembered that Francis seemed to be in contact with Stella.

Would he tell her that Reina was in the hospital?

And if Stella knew, their mother would definitely find out too. At that point, this quiet ward would turn into chaos.

Just thinking about it made Reina irritable.

But what was coming would come. She couldn’t avoid them forever.

At least now, she wasn’t the same helpless girl she used to be. She had the strength to protect herself.

Just as her thoughts wandered, a familiar female voice was heard from outside. “Excuse me, is my daughter Reina here?”

It was Helen.

She was in her forties, but she was elegantly dressed, and she had fair skin and well-maintained beauty. At a glance, she looked no older than her late twenties.

After politely asking Amber and getting confirmation, she hurried inside.

The moment she pulled open the curtain, she saw her eldest daughter lying on the bed.

“Finally found you!”

Helen yanked the blanket off Reina and started shouting. “I told you to come home, but you wouldn’t listen! Look at you now! You caused such a disaster!”

Her long fingernails jabbed straight into Reina’s injured leg, making her suck in a sharp breath,

“Mom, be careful, can’t you see my leg is injured?”

“Careful? How should I be careful?”

Smack! Helen slapped down hard on her injured leg and shouted, “You deserve this! You ungrateful brat! This is your punishment for blocking your own mother!”

Reina instantly curled up in pain, slamming her hand onto the call button.

The alert tone rang out, but Helen didn’t care.

She grabbed Reina’s arm, trying to drag her up. “Stop playing dead! Get up and come home! Your siblings
