“He should never be too busy to teach his Luna her duties. This pack is as much yours as it is his. The sooner you realise that the better”.

I didn’t know what to say back but I was glad when the patio doors opened and the man in questioned made an appearance.

“I didn’t realise you both were out here”. He frowned.

“I need to have a conversation with you but later”. Evelyn got to her feet. “Leah sweetheart, it was a pleasure as always”. She dropped a kiss on Jakes cheek before making her way back inside.

“What was that all about?”. He asked.

“No idea”. I shrugged. “But we also need to talk”.

“We do?”.

“So, you know my dad’s going home tonight and I start college in a few weeks?”. I chewed the inside of my cheek. He knew I planned to go visit but I wasn’t sure what his reaction was going to be to me leaving tonight.

It wasn’t planned; it was fast and spontaneous.

“I’m going to spend the next few weeks with him and I’m leaving tonight”.

“What?”. He made a face. “You’re leaving?”.

“Just for a few weeks”.

“I’ll be safe Jake”.

“I get why you want to do this but why now, why so soon?”.

“Because I need to figure out who I am and where I came from. I’m sick of feeling like I don’t belong. I’m sick of feeling invisible around the pack. I want to embrace the fact that I’m a wolf and right now I can’t”. I let out a deep breath. “I can’t do that here and I have no idea why”.

“You belong here”. He frowned. “This is your pack too. We can help you”.

“Yeah, I know that, but it still doesn’t stop me feeling the way I do. You tried to help and look how that turned out”.

“Fine, if you want to go with your dad then go. I’ll see you in a few weeks”.
