My Husband Said His Student Was More Important Than His Pregnant Wife Until I Asked for Divorce novel Chapter 13

Chapter 3

Seeing that Jacob was useless, and knowing waiting in line could take forever, I decided to drive my in-laws

to the nearest public hospital.

Just then, hospital security suddenly set up barricades around my car.

I stared, dumbfounded. “What are you doing?!”

The guard shot me a dismissive look. “Ms. Wren reported the vehicle as taken without consent. That makes

it unauthorized removal.”

“Until she arrives to confirm otherwise, this car isn’t going anywhere.”

Heat rushed to my face. “That’s our family vehicle. Since when does Victoria decide what’s stolen in my own

house?”

The guard remained unmoved. “I’m sorry, but Director Pearson has made it clear that Ms. Wren’s orders carry the same weight as his. Please don’t make a scene.”

Thinking of the two unconscious elders in the car, my vision swam. This was murder!

I called Jacob, but this time the call didn’t go through, I was blocked.

With no other option, I called the police. I briefly explained that my in-laws had been harmed by Victoria and were now unconscious, and that hospital security was illegally detaining my car.

Soon, a police car arrived at the hospital.

Just as I thought the situation might finally turn, Jacob, as the hospital director, stepped forward and spoke

to the officers first.

“Evening, officers. This is a private family matter that got out of hand. My wife’s upset with our housekeeper, and the older folks here just ate something that didn’t agree with them-the allergy part isn’t true.”

“As for the car, the title was transferred to Ms. Wren last month. My wife wasn’t aware and borrowed it without clearing it with her first.”

“Sorry to have you come out for this. We’ll handle it from here,”

As I tried to protest, Jacob grabbed my arm, hissing a threat only I could hear, “You and I will talk about this stunt with the police later.”

“But if you keep this up right now, your parents won’t be treated here at all. Do you understand me?”

I ignored his threat. If only he would see who was in the car, he’d have to help!

Suddenly, another car pulled into the hospital driveway.

Jacob answered a call, his expression changing instantly. He rushed to the newly arrived car and moments. later emerged carrying Victoria in his arms. He urgently addressed the medical staff, “Get Victoria to the ER,

now!”

“She had her neck cut earlier. What if she gets tetanus!”

Cradled in his arms, Victoria looked at me triumphantly before speaking in a sugary voice, “Mr. Pearson, I

know you’re worried about me, but I shouldn’t break hospital rules.”

“I should wait my turn like everyone else.”

Jacob paused, then seemed to remember something. He glanced at me. “Sophia is nothing like you!”

“Normally, family gets no special treatment. But since she hurt you, the least I can do is make sure you’re

looked after first. Consider it me taking responsibility for her.”

It all happened too fast. Before I could process it, a stretcher had whisked Victoria into the emergency room.

The police had left during the commotion.

Furious, I grabbed Jacob’s arm. “Jacob, those are your parents in that car, your real parents! And you’re walking away from them to play nurse for her? What is wrong with you?!”

To my shock, Jacob shoved me to the ground. “Those are your parents, Sophia. And it’s an upset stomach,

not an emergency.”

“I told you from the start: marrying me didn’t give you a free pass to use the Pearson name.”

“If it weren’t for Victoria keeping things in check, you’d try to cut every line in town with it. You really never

learned how things work, did you?”

With that, he left me on the floor and followed Victoria into the ER.
