My Husband’s Second Personality Loved His Sister-in-Law novel Chapter 25

Chapter 2

Emily woke again in a hospital bed, her hand instinctively reaching for her flat stomach. Grief flooded her

heart-her baby was truly gone.

It seemed her marriage to Alex had reached its end too.

The hospital room door swung open, and she glanced over.

Alex strode in, hand-in-hand with Sophia, their fingers tightly interlocked.

Sophia’s gaze was icy, her eyes rimmed with red as she glared at Emily. “Mrs. Harrington, I already stepped away. I stayed out of your mess. But dragging my family into it? Sending people to threaten my parents? What is that? Can’t control your husband, so you go after the people who can’t fight back?”

Faced with baseless accusations, Emily’s eyes darted to Alex. His gaze lingered on Sophia, filled with admiration, as if she were a priceless treasure.

Pain stabbed Emily’s chest. Once, he’d looked at her the same way-tender, adoring, unable to tear his eyes

away.

He’d held her close, whispering, “My wife’s the best. No other woman comes close to you.”

But now, from the moment he entered the room, he hadn’t spared her a single glance.

Emily let out a bitter, self-mocking laugh. Ignoring Sophia, she turned to Alex. “Why didn’t you save our baby?”

“You should ask yourself why you got pregnant without my permission,” Alex snapped, his voice cold and

commanding, radiating authority.

“In this marriage, I don’t even have the right to want a child?” Emily asked, her voice breaking, though she already knew the answer.

Without hesitation, Alex nodded, his presence exuding an unyielding dominance. “That’s right.”

Emily’s head dropped, tears welling in her eyes.

“I’m not here to listen to you two argue about kids,” Sophia cut in, her tone sharp as she shot Alex a look of frustration. In his presence, she always carried herself with fearless confidence, poised and authentic.

Alex patted her back soothingly, then turned to Emily with a reproachful glare. “Emily, you drove my wild kitten away and sent people to threaten her parents. You owe her an apology.”

Meeting his gaze, Emily’s heart ached, a dull pain spreading through her. “I didn’t do it,” she protested. “I won’t apologize!”

“Still causing a scene?”

“I didn’t do anything,” Emily insisted, shaking her head.

Alex’s eyes darkened, his expression growing colder. With a wave of his hand, he summoned the bodyguards waiting at the door.

“Are you going to apologize, or do my men need to help you?” His voice was chilling, his stare intimidating.

Emily’s heart twisted painfully, but she held his gaze, defiant, betting he’d honor his old promises not to harm

her.

“Assist Mrs. Harrington,” Alex ordered coolly.

Emily’s gamble failed.

Resigning herself, she didn’t resist as the bodyguards yanked her from the bed, forcing her head down to bow before Sophia.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered, biting her lip until the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth.

“Do you accept her apology?” Alex asked, a faint smirk playing on his lips as he looked at Sophia, still

cradled in his arms.

Sophia nodded, then fixed him with a resolute stare. “Alex, I appreciate whatever feelings you had for me-

but this ends here. My parents would never accept me as someone’s mistress, and I won’t let them get hurt

because of me.”

“That’s an easy fix-no mistress, then,” Alex replied, grabbing Sophia’s arm and pulling her closer. He dialed his lawyer on his phone. “Draft a divorce agreement. Give Emily a hundred million.”

Emily felt like her heart was being ripped to shreds-over and over again. She stared at him in disbelief-the man who’d once risked everything to marry her was now discarding her for his mistress.

Alex tilted Sophia’s chin possessively. “Once the divorce goes through, you’ll be my one and only.”

Sophia wrapped her arms around him with a soft smile. “I’ll give you one last chance,” she murmured-and

just before she leaned in, she shot Emily a quick, smug glance behind his back.
