Chapter 24: Only Look At Me

When we were finally out of the crowds, Lucretius slowed his pace. “I told you to only look at me,” he said, his eyes on the front.

“I’m sorry?” I asked, puzzled by his words.

But he didn’t reply to me and just focused his attention as we were on our way to his private quarters. He hastened his making my eyes widen as I tried to match it while still wondering what he said.

We were already halfway to the entrance of the establishment when words echoed through my mind.

Chills ran down my spine as my eyes locked onto Lucretius‘ back, watching him continue inside without turning to look at me. I even slowed my pace as the words he had written in the note before rang in my head again.

Was that… what he meant?

Was it because he caught me looking at Redmund’s way earlier?

So, he was glaring at me, after all… It wasn’t just a pigment of my imagination!

I tried to catch up to him when he went inside his quarters. I thought that he would lock his door, but when I twisted the doorknob, it wasn’t locked. A relief washed over me because I thought he would dismiss me.

There was something I wanted to bestow on him before I let him rest.

My words were cut off when the moment my feet touched his territory, I flinched when the door slammed shut, as I heard the door being locked. I turned on my heels and saw Lucretius‘ cold expression as he marched in my direction.

“W–What?” I asked nervously, taking a step back, suddenly overwhelmed at his commanding presence. “A–Are you mad?”

Each stride he made caused me to step back until I felt the wall behind me while his hazel orbs bore into mine. His hand extended to seize my throat, putting pressure on the either side of my neck.

I stifled a gasp.

“Mad?” he parroted dangerously. His face came closer, his hot breath fanning over my face as I smelled the red wine from him. I even had to tilt my head to meet his stare. “No. But you..” His gaze flickered, letting out a low, dangerous growl. “… dare to let your eyes linger on another man when you belong to me?”

My breath hitched as my hands instinctively clutched his wrist, but not to push him away. It was because of asking for a support when my knees wobbled. My wolf and I quivered under his command, and we were both torn between fear and… something far more intoxicating.

Not only that, I could already feel my sensitive bud pulsating in between my legs, exhaling slowly.

“Look at me,” he ordered, tightening his hold on my neck, making me gulp. “Only me. No one else. Not Redmund. Not any man. Your eyes, your smile, your body… They’re mine. Do you understand?”

My lips parted. At the same time, my body shivered in delight.

I knew that I was supposed to be threatened at how he was holding me roughly, but something in me wanted to see how far I could endure it and give in to him.

His grip loosened before his hand slid from my throat to capture my wrist. Without warning, he lifted it to his lips, his tongue darting out to lick my pulse. The warmth from his lick was enough to make me shivers and my knees almost failed if I hadn’t

Lucretius smirked from my reaction. “Do you know,” he murmured, licking my wrist one more time before leaving a kiss against my tender skin, “how close I am to forgetting my promise?”

I couldn’t help closing my eyes when he leaned in, letting his hot breath stimulating across my neck. Then, he dragged his tongue out to lick the weak spot before kissing it. I bit my lower lip from the sensation while my wolf inside me squirming, inclining more to his chest.

Good Moon Goddess! I didn’t want this to stop… I felt conflicted yet I wanted more.

Lucretius snaked his arm around my waist, pulling me closer as if he knew what I wanted. Then, I felt his canines grazing my skin, making my body trembled in terror and need.

“I want to remind you that I already owned you, my little soldier,” he whispered huskily. The way his hold tightened around my waist showed his possession on me. “I could take you right here, against this wall, until you forget every name but mine. That’s what I want to do to you, Euphyllia. Do you understand me?”

I slowly opened my eyes, my head weighed down and my body trembling with longing as I gave a slight nod. I recalled that night where all I could ever pray and plea was his name that I forgot Redmund’s name.

If he promised like that, I knew that I could be able to forget everything but him and his touch.

“Yes…” I replied softly, or was it a moan that I uttered?

He growled and pressed his hardness to my stomach. “You want it, do you? You want me to ravish you at this moment.”

I nodded again. “Yes…” I answered him obediently. “Yes…” I repeated, my tone becoming demanding.

I didn’t know what I was saying anymore. I felt… hypnotized. And all I could do at this moment was to nod obediently.

Having Lucretius‘ body molding in mine was a mistake. I couldn’t think straight right now. Even my wolf was quickly to submit to his touch.

Lucretius used his knees to separate my legs until I felt it teasing my sensitive bud. My hands clutched his shoulders as my mouth slightly opened from the pleasure.

“Lucretius…” My breathing became uncontrollable. And I hated him for the truth that he could set my body on fire without fail.

I couldn’t understand how my body responded every time Lucretius touched me. It won’t obey to me and was more loyal to him.

That made my eyes widened in disbelief. What? Did he say wait?

“Are you… being serious right now?” I couldn’t help uttering it when he carefully stepped back, putting distance between us.

Disappointment loomed over me when his body heat wasn’t pressing on me anymore.

Lucretius‘ smirk deepened upon seeing my reaction. His thumb sensually stroked my jaw. “Fret not. I am going to think of you while I am showering, my little soldier.”

I creased my forehead. I opened my mouth to protest, to say that he was a jerk that he left me hanging, but no words came out.

How must I suppose to tell him that he must take accountability to me right now? He had been teasing me so many times!

“What is it?” he asked, his brows knitting together. I could surmise that he was trying to hold back his surprised expression by returning the gaze on me and to the back.

I gulped so hard. You could do this, Euphyllia! “It’s a gift. F–For your birthday.”

Even though Lucretius looked bewildered, he still reached for the box. I held my breath when his fingers brushed mine in the exchange, sending chills down my spine.

He opened it, and it revealed a silver and obsidian brooch inside. His lips slightly parted, and his expression was different from

earlier.

I heaved out a sigh. “It carries a blessing of protection, from a divine priest. I thought… perhaps it could guard you.” I lowered my gaze, feeling a little embarrassed. “I do not know what to gift you to be honest because I know that you can buy everything… and this is my first time gifting a man.” I gulped, my fingers fidgeting. “I asked a friend for an advice, and a brooch was one of her suggestions. I am not certain if you are going to like it, but I really want to gift you something on your birthday.”
