My Mates Chose The Other Girl novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4

I couldn’t understand it. They were the ones who betrayed me first, but somehow I was the villain.

I gripped his wrist, but my strength was fading fast, slipping away. Tears I couldn’t hold back blurred my vision. When I

managed to look up at him, I felt hollow inside.

Rufus’s pupils shrank. Someone called his name.

Alarm flashed across his face. He saw me choking, gasping for air, and his hands dropped away.

I collapsed, doubling over, coughing so hard I thought my chest would tear apart.

Gale rushed over, reaching out for me. Just then, the door opened. Ivy appeared, drawn by the commotion.

He pushed me away without thinking. The shove caught me off guard, sending me crashing to the floor.

Aquila stepped into the doorway behind her, moving forward instinctively. Then he stopped, his face unreadable.

Rufus turned to Gale, raising an eyebrow.

“Didn’t you say you’d stay with Elara forever? What are you doing here?”

Something dawned on him, and his smile twisted into something cruel.

“Ah… so you can’t stand her anymore, huh?” His grin widened. “Guess the three of us really are alike-always falling for

the same girl.”

His eyes found me on the floor, and he sneered.

Gale’s eyes were dark. I looked at him, silently pleading. He said nothing, then looked away.

I forgot how to breathe. My body refused to move.

“Your arm… are you alright?”

That’s when they all saw my forearm-angry red skin, blistered and raw.

They were probably waiting for me to break down and cry. Instead, I pulled myself to my feet, wordlessly.

I looked up at Ivy, my mind strangely empty. Her eyes were soft, kind.

I’d heard she could grow vegetables in the winter, coaxing life from frozen ground when no one else could Everyone in the clan loved her-everyone but me.

I must’ve looked strange, standing there, silent and still. Ivy adjusted the sobbing pup in her arms

‘Pip, you did something wrong. Apologize to Elara, okay?”

The pup buried his face against her chest, saying nothing

Chapter 4

Ivy gave me a guilty smile. “He’s just a baby. He’s scared. I’m sorry.” She gestured toward the other room. I have burn medicine. Let me get it for you.”

“No.” The word came out sharply. Everyone turned to look.

“I want him to apologize.”

Ivy’s smile faded, and she frowned slightly. “He’s just a child. Making him apologize right now…”

“Apologize.”

“Elara!” Rufus stepped between us, his face darkening. “What’s wrong with you? He’s just a kid. Ivy already apologized. You want to make him cry? Is that it?”

Aquila stayed quiet, but the way his jaw tightened said it all. Even Gale shook his head gently.

The three of them stood united against me, all for another woman’s child.

Ivy tagged gently at Rufus’s sleeve. She bent down and whispered something to the pup.

Finally, he turned his head. “…Sorry.”

The word was barely audible, sullen, and resentful. The three of them still looked furious.
