My Milf Conqueror System novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12: A brand new man

The morning sun hit the floor-to-ceiling windows of Sofia’s penthouse, blindingly bright.

I sat on the edge of the bed, pulling on my shirt. My movements were slow, deliberate. The silence in the room wasn’t awkward; it was heavy with everything that had happened.

Sofia stirred behind me. The rustle of silk sheets.

"You’re leaving?" Her voice was thick with sleep, lacking its usual razor-sharp edge.

I turned. She was propped up on one elbow, the sheet pooling around her waist. Her hair was a mess, her makeup gone.

She looked... human. Vulnerable.

"I have class," I said. It sounded ridiculous even to my own ears.

I just conquered a corporate titan, and now I have to go sit in Microeconomics.

She blinked, a slow smile spreading across her lips. It was a genuine smile, one I hadn’t seen before.

"Class. Right. I forget how young you are sometimes."

"Does that bother you?"

"Last night didn’t feel very young," she murmured.

The memory of it hit me—the heat, the desperation, the way she had unraveled in my arms. My face heated up, but the System chimed in my mind, cool and steady.

I didn’t stammer. I didn’t look away. I leaned down and kissed her forehead.

"I’ll call you."

She caught my hand before I could pull away. Her grip was firm. "Jake."

"Yeah?"

"Don’t make me chase you," she said softly.

"I’m not good at it."

"You won’t have to."

Walking out of her building felt like stepping onto a different planet.

The doorman nodded at me. "Good morning, sir."

Sir.

A week ago, he would have looked through me. Now, I was the guy leaving the penthouse at 8:00 AM.

I checked my phone. The bank notification was still there.

Deposit: $10,000.00

I stared at it. Ten grand. To Sofia, that was a handbag. To me, it was life-changing. It was rent for a year. It was freedom.

But more than the money, I felt... different.

The walk to campus usually felt like a gauntlet of insecurity. I’d keep my head down, avoid eye contact, try to shrink into myself. Today, I walked with my head up. My shoulders were back. The air felt cleaner.

When I stepped onto the quad, the noise of the campus washed over me. Students rushing to class, frisbees flying, the low hum of a thousand conversations.

I saw Claire.

She was sitting on the fountain wall, laughing with her friends. The same spot as always. The same perfect hair, the same bright smile.

For years, seeing her would have ruined my day. It would have been a reminder of everything I wasn’t.

Today?

I looked at her, and I felt... nothing.

No longing. No bitterness. Just a mild appreciation for a pretty girl who had no idea who I was. And for the first time, I didn’t care.

I walked past her group.
