Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs
Chapter 112 The Alpha Who Returned
“Sire!”
Jaden’s eyes lit up instantly. He hurried down the tree, and when he was about six feet off the ground, he jumped the rest of the way.
“Why’d you suddenly tear down the nest?” Zachary bent down, about to pat the little black panther’s head, but Jaden stepped back to dodge him.
Zachary paused, puzzled–then noticed the white mess on his head. Holding back a laugh, he asked, “They pooped on you, didn’t they?”
The cub cared about his dignity. He turned and ran toward home. Once inside, he shifted into human form, grabbed a basin of cold water, and started to wash his hair.
Zachary quickly stopped him. “There’s hot water in the pot. Washing your hair with cold water will make you sick.”
Jaden had always done it this way before. He shook his head, saying it wasn’t worth the trouble.
Zachary disagreed. He added more hot water, tested the temperature with his hand, and only then let Jaden wash his hair.
The little panther usually washed in the creek or hot springs–just diving straight in. Washing only his hair at home felt strange, and he ended up rubbing the soapberry fruit everywhere, bubbles foaming all over his head.
Like Santa Claus‘ beard.
Zachary chuckled, rolled up his sleeves, and leaned in to help him wash.
Feeling Sire’s gentle touch, Jaden suddenly thought that maybe getting pooped on wasn’t so infuriating after
all.
Once he was clean, Zachary had him sit by the fire to dry his hair. At the same time, Jaden added firewood to the stove while Zachary prepared breakfast.
“Oh, right–Jaden, where’s your Alpha?” Zachary asked as he whisked eggs in a bowl.
“He went hunting.”
“Did he say when he’d be back?”
“This time, he went with the tribe’s therians. He

Sweet potatoes roasted in the fire, and Zachary even pan–fried an extra piece of porcupine meat just for Jaden.
The cub drank three full bowls of soup alone.
After the meal, Zachary called Jaden over to the wall. He had a feeling the cub had grown taller/lately, so he picked up a stone and marked Jaden’s height with a line, planning to check again after some time.
The cubs had their own training to do. Not long after, Taylor came by and called Jaden to go with him.
After what happened last time, Zachary repeatedly reminded the two of them to stay safe. It didn’t matter if they couldn’t catch anything.
Jaden and Taylor both nodded.
Soon, Zachary was alone again.
He began preparing for the trip a few days away.
First, he planned to sew a large backpack for both Jaden and Taylor–something they could carry even in their beast forms.
Matthew had mentioned that Jaden and Taylor would be going too. Whenever the tribe traded salt with the merfolk tribe, they brought along a few therian cubs. Along the way, the cubs would join in hunting, gaining experience.
Jaden and Taylor had just turned eight this year. They were finally old enough, so this time, it was their turn.
Jaden stayed relatively calm, but when Taylor heard the news, he got so excited that he threw his arms around Jaden and nearly squeezed the breath out of him.
The light outside was better, so Zachary sat at the cave entrance, working with beast hides. By around noon, the backpack had already taken shape.
He was about to make himself something to eat. Just as he got the fire going and added wood, he heard footsteps nearby.
Harper and Wesley walked in, followed by another person. Judging by his build, he was a therian–with silver–gray hair..

Gerald stepped forward. His gray eyes were shadowed with a lifeless gloom, and the aura around him made people uneasy.

“Don’t remember me?”
Zachary took two steps back. “No.”
Gerald’s right leg had a slight limp, slowing his steps. He sat down on a stone stool, his gaze sharp and probing. “You really don’t remember… or are you pretending?”
At this point, Zachary understood the situation.
The three of them had come while Matthew was away, looking to squeeze him–the easy target.
Harper and Wesley hadn’t gotten anything out of him before, so now they’d brought in the “head of the family” to apply pressure.
With that kind of attitude, they probably hadn’t treated the original owner well either.
Figures. Not a single decent one among them.
But if they came here to throw their weight around, they picked the wrong person.
Zachary spoke calmly. “Can’t you tell?”
Gerald narrowed his eyes, a flicker of surprise passing through his gray gaze.
Before coming, Harper and Wesley had told him about Zachary’s change. He’d thought they were exaggerating.
But now, it seemed they weren’t.
Especially the way he carried himself–it was completely different from before. Back then, he had always been timid in front of him. His eyes had been just as cold, but they carried fear too.
Gerald’s voice dropped. “Why haven’t you come home lately?”
Home? Go back just to be bullied again–or to deliver supplies to your doorstep?
