Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs
Chapter 168 A Lynx at the Winter Trade
The snow lasted for two days.
Finished
Thankfully, it never came down too hard. By the time it stopped, the ground was only covered to ankle depth. Then the clouds finally broke apart, and pale sunlight slipped through.
Willis‘ people were still waiting for them back home. He did not want to stay longer than necessary, so after thanking the Black Panther chief, he prepared to leave with Leslie and the others.
When Daniel and the rest heard the Rabbit Tribe was leaving, they felt a little disappointed/
Those rabbits were round, plump, and white as fresh snow. Their ears twitched whenever they moved, which made it hard not to like them.
The cubs were the saddest of all.
The Rabbit Tribe therians had gentle tempers. During the past two days, whenever the cubs came to look for them, they would shift into their beast forms and roll around in the snow with the little ones.
They even let the cubs touch their ears.
That alone had made the cubs feel as if they had received the greatest gift in the world.
All day long, the children sang “The Snowy Little Rabbit” while petting the rabbits. Even after going home, they still kept calling for rabbits.
Yael and Quincy suffered the worst.
Taylor had chanted it so often that their minds were nearly filled with the word “Rabbit.”
As for Zachary, the moment Willis had seriously asked to trade for his pelt, most of his interest in the Rabbit Tribe had disappeared.
The gentle, adorable image shattered right there.
Of course, there was another reason he had not gone out much.
The snow had trapped everyone indoors for the past two days, and Matthew had been especially difficult lately. Once he sent Jaden over to play with Taylor, he shut the cave door and pulled Zachary through a long round of “exercise.”
The whole cave had practically become their training ground.
By the end, Zachary did not even have the energy to think about watching the Rabbit Tribe.
After the Rabbit Tribe left, the chief used the clear weather to bring out the traded goods and divide them among the tribe.
The medicinal herbs naturally belonged with Bruce. Donald had already helped carry those to his cave early in the morning.
In the open space at the heart of the tribe, fresh fruits and vegetables were piled together. Set against the

white snow, they looked even brighter, greener, and juicier than usual.
During the cold season, such things were rare enough to make people linger over them.

The cubs had eaten fish and meat for days. Now that they saw fruits with sweet–and–sour scents, they could barely control themselves.
They clung to their parents‘ hands and begged in soft little voices.
“Sire, I want this…”
“Alpha, can I have that one?”
The adults could not bear to refuse when the cubs wanted them so badly. Many of them were willing to exchange some of their own things for a little freshness.
The food handed over in exchange would be distributed later to the elderly and injured members of the tribe.
Matthew, of course, had to show up for this.
His family had a sub–therian who loved fruits and vegetables more than anyone else in the tribe.
That morning, Matthew picked Zachary up from the bed earlier than usual.
The lynx gave a drowsy little meow and curled tighter in Matthew’s arms, too sleepy to move.
He had been the one who told Matthew to wake him when the Rabbit Tribe’s goods were divided, yet he had already forgotten all about it.
“It’s fine. Sleep a little longer.” Matthew held him carefully, supporting him with one arm as he walked toward the center of the tribe.
Zachary kept his eyes closed. He buried his face into Matthew’s collar and pressed himself against Matthew’s warm chest.
Before long, he actually fell asleep again.
Taylor and Jaden had already shifted into their little black panther forms and dashed ahead.
They met more cubs along the way. The group grew larger and larger, and soon, a line of small black panthers ran across the snow with their tails raised high.
The center of the tribe had already become lively by the time Matthew arrived.
The fruits and vegetables looked especially tempting in the snowy open space. Tribe members gathered around the piles, talking and choosing, making the place feel almost like a winter market.
The cubs crouched in a neat row at the front.
Some stretched their necks to see better, some leaned in close to smell. A few stared so intently that their drool nearly dripped onto the snow.
Daniel looked at the goods in disbelief. “How does the Rabbit Tribe still have these in weather like this?”

Ethan was just as confused. “They never seem to run out of fruits and vegetables during the cold season.”
“Maybe the Beast God really does bless them.”
“That rumor might not be nonsense after all.”
“I heard someone even saw the Beast God appear near their tribe.”
Once one person started, everyone added another version. In no time, the story became increasingly ridiculous.
“Zachary, wake up.” Matthew lowered his head and gently shifted the lynx in his arms. “We’re here.”
Zachary’s head popped out from inside Matthew’s clothes at once.
A lynx’s hearing was too sharp. He had actually woken up before they reached the crowd.
He had only been half–asleep, too comfortable and too lazy to move.
Besides, every time Matthew walked, the firm muscles of his abdomen shifted slightly beneath him. Being held against that warmth felt surprisingly nice.
Once Zachary jumped down, the cubs immediately forgot everything else.”
“Zachary is here!”
The small, excited voices rang out around him.
A group of fluffy cubs rushed over and surrounded the silver–gray lynx in an instant.
Zachary could not speak in this form, so he replied to each child with a patient little “Meow.”
Jaden still remembered why they had come. “Sire, choose what you want to eat.”
Taylor nodded quickly. “Yes, Zachary. Pick the good ones first.”
So, with a crowd of children gathered around him, Zachary began circling the Rabbit Tribe’s goods like a
serious customer.
He looked at one pile.
Then he sniffed another.
His tail moved lightly behind him as he inspected everything with great focus.
Not far away, Wesley stood in the crowd with his fingers clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned pale. He had bitten his lips until they were red, and a thin trace of blood had appeared.
Harper noticed and grew frightened at once. He instantly grabbed Wesley’s hand and shook his head, silently warning him not to act rashly.
Ever since Gerald had hit Zachary, disaster seemed to follow him everywhere.

Some days, he tripped the moment he left home.
Other times, he fell into pits for no reason.

Once, a group of stingtail beasts even chased him and bit him badly. His head had swollen with bumps, and his nose and mouth had stayed puffy for a long time.
Meanwhile, Matthew stood nearby, his eyes never leaving the lynx. Watching Zachary inspect everything with such serious curiosity, he could not help the slight smile that touched the corner of his mouth.
